Just got an email today saying I didn't make the cut for housing - I sent them their cash too late i guess (2 weeks after they requested it). Anyway, anyone still looking for roommates/apartments?

P.S. Only reason the contacted me is I sent them an email - she said they will notify the rest of us at the end of the week as to if we're in or not.

I'm also looking for a place to live. I had booked my flight for the 26th of Aug, but now that i don't have a dorm reserved i will be leaving much earlier (Aug 20 or 21st).

I'll probably just apartment hunt for a few days and be done with it!
I wouldn't mind living with a bunch of people though.
anyone interested?

Not coming down til the 25th, but if you and whoever else still don't have a place before i get there, we can check it out.

Good Luck,

Gosh you guys...that really sucks that they let you know so late. I bet you are going to have to pay a change fee with your airline ticket too huh? Well, I will be there on the 18th (I think that I am going to rent from Campus Village) and I'll be looking out for ya. Good luck finding a place. From what I understand, its not that hard to find an apartment once you get here, especially if you are willing to live with other people. It will all work out!

i had to change my flight but it's only $50.00. No big deal i guess.
It does suck that they let us know late about the dorms, but i'm not worried. I'll just get down there a little early and look for a place and get stuff done that needs to get done.

I'll probably be coming down on the 21st or so. I can make it to both of the "newbie welcoming parties" that are being held now! wohoo!

Dont worry about finding housing. When I was in your shoes last year at this time it was actually hard to make a choice because there are a ton of places to pick from. Just shop around for a day or two until you make your final decision. After that your hardest decision will be deciding what beach to go to everyday until classs start. Trust me!

...about housing. Remember, I am not the model person to be asking about housing, since I have very specific needs for my pets (which makes housing that much harder for me to find). I viewed an additional 4 properties today, all of which would probably suit the single student...these ranged from $700 - $1700 and were mostly within walking distance to campus. There are other alternatives away form campus if you don't mind the drive...you really just have to be open to what's currently being offered. With the 5th sems leaving in the next couple of weeks, there should be a good number of apartments that will be in need of new tennants. I saw a couple today where they had 4 BR for students to share; these seem to be not uncommon, if that's what you're looking to do. Otherwise, there are a bunch of studios, 1BR, 2BR for all of you newbies without pets and a wad of student loan cash burning a hole in your pocket.

Hey TR,

Now that I'm looking for housing and roommates just thought maybe we could put up a sticky post for people looking for apartments - so we can yak back and forth and find more people that need roommates. It would be nice to get to know people a little before choosing a roommate when we get out there.

Wha da ya think?
