Question:

I am a Korean american (resident alien, so i have a greencard) living in NY.
If I end up going to Fatima medical school, would I be able to do clerckships and residency in NY. And would I be able to get my license in NY?

Thanx.

Fatima has a different setup. The first 3 years are theoretical (no patient contact). But you can do your entire 4th year in one of their affiliate hospitals in NY. You can also do your residency in NY and get a license in NY (after passing your USMLE and getting accepted in a residency program).

oh and do you think that is a good idea? taking the USMLEs after graduating? How likely would a med student from Fatima gain residency in NY and license afterwards?
Rather a broad question in its own way, huh? =T

You can take your USMLE Step 1 after your first 2 years but you need to prepare/review independently. Schools there don't prep for USMLE. There are Kaplan review centers there for USMLE. You can get residency positions in NY but probably in less competitive fields (Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics,Psychiatry).

My cousin and her friend just came from the PI a month ago and practically aced the USMLE 1 & 2 here in the states. Though they were already finished with their requirements there, they said the med school they went to (CIM) did prepare them for the test well, then Kaplan helped them with the way the questions were structured.

And about the USMLE, my other cousin told me if might be better to take 1 & 2 right after school while the knowledge is still fresh? Makes sense but I still would need time to review for it
