I advise you to spend a LOT of time with First Aid. I think it was one of the best books around for Step 1. Second, sign up and start taking the Step 1 Kaplan exams. Try to get a good score. But more importantly, get your stamina up for the 7 blocks and LEARN from your mistakes on reading the question or from the detractors.
Put the exam off for another month to 6 weeks. Taking this crazy thing for a second time can be costly and draining. The NBME is a very good predictor of your actual score. I got about 10 points less on the three digit on Step 1 and on Step 2 the second NBME part predicted my score almost exactly.
Good luck from someone who has been there.

Do NOT take the exam. Focus, study, and don't think about sitting until you get at least score a 400. Just my opinion.

If I were you I would wait until your score is in the 400's, I know it's a pain in the butt because you want to get it over with, but NBME is a really good predictor, and it's good that you know right now where you stand. So I would wait until your in the 400's. Good lUck.

I know how you feel. If it helps...my nbme predicted score from the field trial this summer was 360 (180) and on the real thing I got a 176. I took the NBME test a week or so before the real thing. Hang in there. I know I am trying ;-)
