Hey everyone,

I want to find out if anybody knows what are the apartments that are closest to the campus. I have heard Tradewinds Apartments are about a three minute walk, is there any other apartment complexes that are a short distance from AUC, even if they are about a five or six minute walk? Also, how are the apartments, what do they include, and how much do they cost? Thanks to all, and hope to see you soon :D

There are about 6 apartment buildings/complexes within a 3-minute walk of the school.

Cote d'Azur Residence
Cote d'Azur Marina
Blue Azur Residence
the yellow building (don't know the name of these, if they HAVE one)
Tradewinds
Arbor Estates
Campus Village (opens soon)
Cupecoy Beach Club

I have already written numerous posts about most of these. They range anywhere from $650/month for a studio to $2200 a month for the nicest 2-BR units.

I would highly suggest reading through the old topics, perhaps even using the search feature.

I'm sorry if this sounds a bit terse, but for those of us who are here all the time and answer the same questions time and time again, the repetition isn't routine, it's old. I used to do the same thing, asking questions I prolly could have answered from reading old posts, so don't feel bad. :D

I am seriously thinking about a sticky FAQ post.... I just don't wanna undertake the monumental effort yet. lol

Thank you very much for the response, actually I called the Campus Village, from reading your old post. For all of those interested, this is part of the information that Erica e-mailed me;

Thank you for your interest in Campus Village.

As per our conversation I am sending to you the various information about CAMPUS VILLAGE APARTMENTS.

The building will be completed on August 15th and as an offer from the Owner all tenants will be able to move in between August 15th and September 1st FREE OF CHARGES. Therefore the lease will start on September 1st.

1- All units are set up to be identical: They all have the same surface (all 1-bedroom apartments), same furniture, appliances and so on. Four units on the ground level, however, do not have a balcony and therefore are rented for USD 1,100. The reminder of the 1-bedroom apartments all include a very nice balcony and therefore are for rent for USD 1,200. The penthouses which have two bedrooms and a large terrace view a beautiful view are for rent for USD 2,400. However the penthouses seem to be taken already unless further notice. But for sure one is already taken.

The above rent charges are excluding utilities, telephone and all other charges such as cable TV, or internet charge... All the units have large sliding doors except for downstairs units without balcony.

2- Description of the unit: The units are all fully furnished with:
-Kitchen: Cabinets, electrical stove and oven microwave, 17 cubic refrigerator, lamps, and some additional silverware, plates and glasses...
-Living room: mini bar with stools, loveseat, armchair, A.C., Ceiling fan
- Bedroom: Full-size bed, and closet, A.C.

All windows, sliding doors are equipped with blinds and all units include washing machine and dryer.

I am forwarding you a copy of the ad that was placed and which includes a picture of the building and what it will look like pretty soon.
As far as the Lease Agreement is concerned, we require three months deposit which represents the first and last month rentals and one month as security. There is also a small deposit of USD 50.00 for the key and one also if you own a pet. As far as A.U.C. students are concerned, we would need various documents for each tenant such as:
- Copy of your student I.D.
- Copy of the passport / driver's license
- Contact of the parents in home country
I advise you to reserve your unit as soon as possible as many have done so already.

Well guys, sorry for the length of this post, but I figured it's better if you guys get the information without having to spend money on a phone call. As for me, I am not planning to rent here, I think it is a bit expensive, specially if the utilities are not included. In any case, good luck to all, and let me know if you have more advice for me. Take care :D

Thanks Pam! Yes, it does save us the trouble of getting in contact with me(for some reason, I'm being very anti-social with the real world. Could it be the internet?? hummmm)

Well Jeff, you are not the only one.......I myself, am one step from complete hibernation, specially now with the news of being homeless. :( I have spent my entire free time today trying to find available apartments in the island, aswell as new travel plans. I just have to wait and see what happens.

Anyway, thanks to Lynsey, I realized that I had not posted how to contact Erika from Campus Village. So here it is for anybody interested:

Hi Gang,
I actually did a walk through of campus village yesterday and spoke with Erica who told me the exact same thing she e-mailed viancca2000. As of 7/31/2003, the building is pretty much a hollow shell. In the units, the glass sliding doors and front doors are in place, the floors nicely tiled, but nothing else. None of the 22 units I walked through had been completed and all lack furnishings and fixtures. That being said, they are quite spacious and look to have some great potential. The penthouses are freakin' HUGE (justifying the $2400/month  ) and are split-level with a terrace the size of some of the single-unit bedrooms (read BARBEQUE!!!) and have a great view of the lagoon and dorms, but as stated before I beleive both are spoken for. There is a lot of construction going on near AUC due to the building of Campus Village as well as Canadian International Academy, which is a high school. BTW, there may be some high school students renting in campus village. Other than that, this building is within 2 minutes of AUC by walking. Erica assures me that they will be ready to move into by 8/15/2003. Hope this helps!

Aloha,
