I really wish people would at least take a look around the forum before asking questions already addressed... bleh.
Below is copy-and-pasted post from my previous thread on this forum. Hope it helps.
"The booklist included in the admission package is out of date and unorganized. Didn't take too long getting to the newest editions of the right books, but below will save you some time anyways.
I purchased all books from allheart.com, don't forget to use a $10 off coupon (FREE200) for orders above $200, and a $5 off coupon (RR1552570) for orders above $100. Please support ValueMD by linking to the website from here (for detailed instructions, PM 'Doc').

Well thanks Kirst, however plz bear in mind that some of us are new to this fora and have not seen the "already addressed" issues all we need is advice on the way forward as we chart these uncharted waters. God bless.

Kirst,
I think there may be a typo or some kind of error on the "book list" because where it says BIOCHEMISTRY for the TRI-ONE semester, the book that is listed from the school, as well as yourself (I assume the two go hand and hand), it says Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment.
This seems awfuly strange. I have an edition of Currents myself, and as the name implies, it's all clinicaly related problems and diagnoses. Not sure why that would be listed as a book in the first tri. You gotta learn the basics before diagnosing a problem  . I think we need to call and follow up on this. I think it's a mistake.
Also, it says (optional) which is something else I don't understand. Let's take a class and the textbook is OPTIONAL ? *scratches head.....
Somethings not right. :?
EDIT>> Now, why on earth would they want us to get a 2002 edition of currents with a 2004 out ? You know, I'm seeing another currenst edition of 2001 listed for IM  I guess the increase in tuition didn't go toward any updates on the book list. Perhaps I'll just forgo the 2001 and 2002 edition and just bring my 1996 edition....bring a little PA spirit with me

Chris, the book is optional for the first trimester because only a course on Biostatistics will briefly touch on it for a reference. But this book is required for subsequent trimesters and that's why I listed it in my booklist as a required text.
And like I said in my post, the booklist in the admission package is outdated and quoted incorrectly. I doubt that editions will make significant difference, but it's always a good idea to keep up with the most recent information.

Thanks! I already purchased my books, so it was too late for me unfortunately... but I managed to cancel the book for embryology.
Would it be possible for me to find a copy of BRS Behavioral Science and BRS Cell Biology and Histology on the island? I'm interested in buying them from you if you're selling.

I don`t think it`s wise to take a class without the textbook unless you have a substitute text. The embryo text is listed on its own as a reqd book, so my advice to you is that go ahead and buy this book, what worked for somebody may not work for you. I would rather err on the side of caution.
God bless

YAYA :D PHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW, I"m so happy, I just got my letter of reconsideration approved for LOANS. Oddly enough, it was harder to get the loan then it was to get into med school and I was happier getting the loan too :?
But yeah, I haven't even thought of booking the hotel yet, probably will do that when I get their. We will have our computers up and going. SO for all students going to spartan, I imagine you will have your laptop, we'll create a new topic when everyone is approaching to depart or whoever gets their first, then we'll all KIT that way. May be the best option as none of us know who's who and what's what
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH BABY!!!! I"m stoked now. Now I'm pumped :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :D :D
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
