I've been a silent member for quite some time now. I just wanted to say thank you for all of your advice.
I got my score today and I got a 201/82 and I'm so happy with that!!! I didn't feel like I passed comming out of the exam and I am so greatful to God and to my family and to everyone that has supported me through this.
I did Kaplan Q Bank and I felt like it was much harder then the actual exam...my average was 48% on the randomized exams.
My NBME 1:430 and NBME 2:410
If you have any questions please ask and I will reply as well as I can. Thanks again for being such a support to me!

Thanks for all of the congrats!!
Mayor: As fas as studying went, I actually had the opportunity to to the the Kaplan Live Lectures, but being an IMG I really didn't feel like I could take the exam right after that, so I studied for an extra 3 months after that. I was very happy that Goljan was there I he made Path seem doable, I didn't find his information too be very relavent to my exam, but I know that because of the way he made me understand everything and taught me how to put the pieces together I know that I will be a better practicing physician because of listening to him. I went through all of the Kaplan lecture notes and I kept getting really overwhelmed, because I thought that they had too much information in them, so I switched over to having both the first aid open as well as that section of the kaplan lecture notes open, and if first aide was missing something I would add it in. Please remember, first aid has a lot of information that Kaplan is missing and vise versa, so I found it very helpful to put all of this information together in a semi organized fashion. This exam really has a lot of broad topics, and I found that kaplan was too specific in a lot of areas, where as first aide was too broad is a lot of areas, so it's almost like if you put them together you can find a happy medium between the two!!! With Neuro, I supplimented with Neuro High Yeild, just because Kaplan was a little too much, and I found it had a lot of mistakes in it, and First Aide didn't cover everything. HY neuro had a very general understanding of Neuro, but it was acutally pretty good because it hit all of the major aspects of Neuro if you incorporated it with Kaplan and First Aid.....I'm not a very good memorizer so I had to put everything together kind of like a story so that I didn't forget it. Biochem was well covered between Kaplan and First Aid, and if you can understand just first aid then that was more then enough to know for the exam that I had. Behavioural was well covered by the Kaplan behavioural book. I wish I had gone through Physio NORMALS because what I did was combine pathophysio, and as much as that was helpful for most of the physio questions, some questions were simple straight forward normal questions and I wish I had studied just the NORMALS because it would have saved me a lot of thinking time on the exam. I hope this helps.

I did not try the oasis trick because I heard it was only 80% of the time accurate. and I didn't want to put myself through that!!! But believe me I sat in front of the computer everyday contemplating weather to do the oasis trick or not....in the end I'm happy I didn't....but that's just me!!!

Unregistered: I found that the NBME was the closest to the actual exam, and I found it a lot easier then the Qbank, but again, that's just me. I don't know why I found it that way, but I found that Kaplan Q bank asked a lot of questions that just wern't applicable to the exam, because a lot of questions were just way too far out in left field...but I also found that the Q bank was excellent practice as far as getting your brain thinking for 50 block randomized exams....but don't take what you get too seriously, and make sure you go through all of the q's after each block and study them.

I hope this helped!

deoriveraMD: Congrats!!! That's so great, I'm so happy for you!!! It takes a few days to sink in....but it's a really great feeling!!!!!!

AriVederci:
The oasis trick is a way you can tell, before getting your actual score result in the mail, if you passed your step 1 or not. I'm not quite sure how to do it, but it's only accurate 80% of the time, so I didn't even bother doing it.....but if you decide to good luck!!!!
