I think I may have found it. $50 deductable, half the cost of Ross's coverage, and a larger maximum coverage. It seems too good to be true, anyone see any problems?

Apparently this is the insurance used by the UNC school system in the carolinas when students go study abroad. While we would not be eligible for the "study abroad" portion, the other plans they offer still seem to be incredible. I have a friend that will be using this as he goes to Japan this fall.

I don't know anyone on the island yet, but it would be nice to know if anyone has had experience with this insurance. Or even any thoughts on it.

I don't know about that company but I used this company:

www.mnui.com

I also found good plans at:

www.internationalstudentinsurance.com (http://www.edvisors.com/ads/adclick.cgi?manager=adcycle.com&gid=13&cid=99&mid=115&id=896)

Good luck!

I just called HTH for specific information regarding a U.S. resident enrolled at a foreign institution (in Dominica). We would actually enroll in the study abroad plan. The Healthcare Advantage is ment for foreign student that are studying in the U.S.

While they have a list of in-network doctors, if they are out-of-network (which they probably are) then they will still reimburse you 100% for costs incurred. This is important because some companies I talked to require you to go to an emergency room for ANYTHING in order for them to reimburse you (even for just a cough). It costs $33/month ($396 annual) and we would be eligible up until age 30.

Drugs are paid 100% inpatient and 50% outpatient.

for people who used interenational student insuance, did you use the global policy or the ex-patriot policy
Also students who brought their spouses what policy did you use, it is a bit more expensive when you add a spouse.

Thanks
