i got accepted into st chris for jan 06. now i just read about the troubles of a young girl who came back to FL from AUA and is now having trouble with clinicals, apparently there were not approved there or NY or of course cali despite the contrary to what AUA's website informed her, apparently it was misleading. now do students from st chris will they go through the same bull**** because st chris website gives high hope that when you are done with your basic sciences then you do clinicals in the us, but through how much stress i am coming there from washington dc and do hope that it is worth the trip and money why don't former students come or at least attempt to communicate with prospective students also reading from other websites (www.studentdoctor.net (http://www.studentdoctor.net)) I read not to believe anything from whuds or bts becasue they are st chris administrators and moderators and try to hype the school in an attempt to increase student enrollment. how much truth is there to this? i'm not trying not start nothing but the girl who is now having difficulities was told just like me not believe everything on this valuemd. now she says she wished she had because she would have avoided complications like what she is going through now. what is the real deal with st. chris for real?????????????

i'm a current student (although so are whuds and bts) and i have done all my rotations at US hospitals in 2 locations (1 in the northeast and one in the midwest). i will be doing a little more jumping around hospital-to-hospital over the next several months because i am applying for residency in a very competitive field and it will work to my advantage if various residency programs know me. so far in clinical clerkships, i have compared favorably with the students of US med schools with whom i've rotated. my usmle score was also 99th percentile, which is a testament to the education i received at st chris. the "real deal" with st chris is that:
1) it was a decent school when i was in england, and i understand it has grown and improved considerably since i left. placement in good clinical clerkships is not a problem.
2) it is potentially threatening to schools on caribbean islands because of its geographical location and because it dodges the bullet of the "caribbean stigma", which may explain all the negative press in online fora such as this one.
3) it is a young school with an unproven record for licensing physicians - i am aware of only 4 states in which permanent licenses have been granted to graduates of st chris and i am aware of 1 state that has rejected a single applicant (texas and the applicant transferred into st chris from another medical school that has since closed). however, we do have graduates placed in many residency/house officer programs (mostly in the US, but also in Canada and the UK) and this number will undoubtedly increase rapidly over the next several years.
4) we have not applied for recognition in california and, as such, we are currently ineligible for clerkship/residency/licensure there; we have applied and are currently undergoing evaluation to be eligible for more than the standard 12-weeks of clerkships in new york.
by the way, like every other st chris student on this site at one time or another, i've also been accused of being an administrator of st chris by would-be detractors of my school, so make of that what you will.

if you're trying to decide whether to go to st chris, it may help you make your decision to see some real st chris students... check out the following friendster profile (you'll need to create a free account to access it):
http://www.friendster.com/user.php?uid=19239068
also, the following friendster profile can help you compare the type of student at st chris with the type of student in other "offshore" schools:

med school's not easy... it's important to be around people who you regard as a support system and no matter where you go, you'll be spending the majority of your time with other students. do a little looking into where you feel like you fit in best.

I do take offense to being singled out. Whats the sense in ticking off students you would go to school with? We try very hard to give out infromation we know. I'm a current student and have done a lot of research on the school. I have my opinion of the school. First off if you are that worried then go to a medical school in the USA. If you cannot then St. Chris is an option. There are troubles with getting a lic in some states for now, MD and DC are not the ones. You can not pick and choose who will talk to you, many St. Chris students will not post here due to the crap that has gone on here by fake posters like a couple weeks ago. I can not speak to the "Girl from AUA" but if you do your own home work and research the school then you will know. If your ready for medical school then you should be able to handle this. If you doubt who I am just click on my name and see my posts, I started back in 2004 asking about the school myself. I do this for the benifit of the other students at St. Chris and potential new students, we do hope to post how we see our school, the good and the bad.
Cheers.

I'm so tired of the bashing Tanishia, why do you say I'm an aministrator? I'm an Older student, VP of AMSA at the school, worked as an RN for 18yrs before going to med school. I'm in the 1st semester and still have a couple of undergrad to finish. Am I an administrator cause some unknown poster says that? Yes I go around the web to the other sites cause there are many St. Chris bashers who lie about the school. The truth is twisted by them to make the school look like something it is not. It is not perfect, and there are some real issues but for the most part STUDENTS LIKE ME SHOULD GO AROUND THE WEB AND POST WHAT WE KNOW. Are you an administrator cause you have gone around the net and posted about the school? Get real! SDN and other sites have been mostly flooded with non students who think they know about the school. I'm proud of a medical school that is so new.
I do this for my fellow students who deserve the truth posted about our school. Yea we care about our school. I keep the same WHUDS to keep it real. I do not hide who I am, I sell and buy on ebay by whuds ect. I do not know who you are though, you could be anyone including someone who wants to bash the school. NO ADMINSITRATORS FROM ST. CHRIS POST HERE. I wish they did. I have questions myself. I have few choices of where I could go to school, I picked St. Chris cause they have more to offer me and my family.
Bottom line if you don't like it you can go somewhere else,
Good Luck.
(BTW this cell/histo class is the most boring class I've ever been in!)
On last thing, BTS and I are 2 different people, he's in the USA in clinicals about to grad, I'm in Luton (God help me) for the next 1.5yrs.

I'm a first semester student at st. chris and so far, I'm happy. Honestly Tanisha, with the kind of attitude I see in you, you're probably better off not coming here. You just pissed off/singled out some of the most helpful people on this site. I listened to their advice before I got to the school...I used to come here too. I found whatever information they provided me to be completely accurate when I arrived here. When you decide to go to a foreign medical school, of course you are taking certain risks. You need to weigh your options and come to a decision on your own if you cant trust half the people here due to your consipiracy theories.Sorry, but I take offense to you picking on the school and the students of the school my mom owns (kidding)

Haha, this thread is hilarious. Everyone knows that BTS owns 3-4 offshore medical schools and is opening a new one called Hurricane Target Medical College. ************* is his 2nd in command/secretary and whuds is their janitor/security. I'm a student here in 4th semester. Is my name going to pop up on the administrator list as well? The student body here has come from a crapload of different places so I don't see why Hyattsville, MD is so special. I'm from Annandale, VA. Everyone I know in the semesters ahead of me has a clinical rotation and yes, in the US. Some chose to stay here in Britain. I don't know anything about AUA and I don't want to know anything about AUA. I had the same concerns about coming here i.e. is the school going to shut down or will people ever get licensed? So far, the school has not shut down, and there are licensed grads. You're going to have to forgive the students here, most of us don't post on ValueMD and don't want to. Forgive me for not posting everyday, but I have to do this thing called studying. I'm happy with what I have here and I did my own research. Bottom line: if you aren't happy with the answers you are getting or you still think the school is shady, don't come here.

tanisha, i am going in jan 06 too. yeah not all states have given st chris the permission to place students there. I am pretty sure i am going to st chris. These guys you say they are either administrator or owner or whatever they tell you are student as well and will be the ones to provide you with most of the infos u will be needing to survive in uk if you decide to come.
If you from NY, cali or fl or any of the states that are pending approval and u are keen on practcing there then may be u shouldn't come to st chris.
Lastly, i am pleading with you to stop listening to any crap they are feeding you about st chris unless a current st chris tells you. you won't believe the sh*t i have been told to stay away from st chris. You are responsible for ur own decision regardless of whatever you hear or read.
good luck!

you came off a little strong in shutting people down and still wanting help. st chris is not like the american school, it is relatively young and still making strides even though some told me it would go belly up. That's some of the crap i heard before even applying.
If you have any atom of doubt, don't come! You are a grown *** chick, you should be able to sit down and ask yourself what you can handle and what you cannot. The adminnstration will never answer your questions to your satisfaction (that is if they even answer it at all). You can't tell those that know about it to keep quiet and still expect your concerns to be addressed.
i didn't read all your post b4 i replied and now that i did, it was quite rude. Anyway, who cares if am angry or not. The student body support system is the best you can get. then again, you must have known that by now.
Aight! that's my spill. i'll get off the soap box or bucket.....whatever they call it.

from a st chris "basher", i can assure you bts, **** and whuds are not admin. they are students that are happy at st chris. they may want to increase enrollmen, as it would help the school, but i don't think they are going to feed you a bunch of ** to trick you into attending.
while i may disagree with a lot of the optimism, they do provide good info for newbies. listen to what they say, and then verify it. simple. i think it is wise to be very pessimistic when considering a med school. look at what it has now, and not what you hope it will become.
as far as clinicals goes, st chris seems to have good ones. i have never on this site read a complaint from students about the clinicals. if that is what you are worried about, then i think you are safe.
for licensure, they have at least one, maybe more. but, you will not be able to work in all states. to me, that is a problem. to those at st chris it is not. it is up to you to decide your feelings about this.

Thanks NeilC, I honestly like St. Chris for me and My family but I do caution people to look at all the good and the bad about the school.
If you have options to go somewhere else make a list of good and bad for each school.
Something like this:
1.Finances
2.Lic issues
3.Charter
4. How well the school is doing
5. If going back to US, clinicals in US?
Ect.....
I do not think St. Chris is for everybody.
I'm opportunestic it will keep getting better if given a chance.
For me the list is like above Finances have to be 1 cause I have to pay for school.
Cheers.

Tanisha, everyone understands your concerns when it comes to the legitimacy of the school, including myself who will be attending St. Chris in January. You must weigh all the facts with an open mind and be objective when making a final decision. Every question that I have posted on this forum has been answered truthfully by each moderator. I have researched every angle to find a lack of truth in the moderators answers. The truth of the matter is, the moderators answer each question with as much truth as possible. They provide links that help support their answers. If you are still skeptical about the legitimacy of the school and /or the moderators, you should direct your questions to the administration and call them. If you want a students point of view, you should get in contact with the school and set up a date where you can visit the school and be able to talk with current students. Valuemd can only provide so much information, the best impression you can receive is to form your on impression based off of facts and visiting the school for yourself. Its up to you to determine if this school is the right for you, not the moderators or other students. Good Luck!

You do not get most of it right cause your info is very old. Policies have changed at the school. No one is "watched" on the internet that is an old claim that has never come true. wait, I don't get it? did you graduate from Howard or Georgetown? And if you could get into their medical schools why did you even apply to St. Chris? So you could talk badly about the school?
look, I know St. Chris isn't for everyone, but bashing the people on this forum doesn't help anyone out. The people on this forum and the ones reading the forums are all (or soon will be) IMG's, so isn't it better to stick together rather than bash each other?
As for the pizza hut picture, that's old news to me, so sorry, it didn't excite me. You would need better pictures/gossip to make me reconsider the school. what does have me questioning the school is the senegal charter and the fact that it's so new. but classes over a pizza hut? All I have to say about that is....man if my current univeristy had classes over a pizza hut I'd be soo fat right now!!!!
tanisha, all I can say is.....the St. Chris students are lucky you will be applying to Howard/Georgetown/wherever you want to undergrad and not attending St. Chris in Jan 06'........though, good luck in your future endeavors...I know how stressful applying to medical school can be.

the link to the website is www.valuemd.com/files/pizzahut.jpg (http://www.valuemd.com/files/pizzahut.jpg) and also in the other posts i put another website www.search.netscape.com (http://www.search.netscape.com) and type in st. christopher's college of medicine. it is here you will find the real truth. i will not be surprised if they try to pull and ban me from this forum b/c i found something that was hidden and they probably wanted it to stay that way. oh well....TRUTH HURTS!!!!

tanisha, sorry didn't realize you had transfered from howard to georgetown. I wish you had made that more clear in your previous posts, but oh well.
I am woman enough and I did use your search.netscape.com and I searched for St. Chris, but all I found were old valuemd threads, and I don't take stock in old rumors. I believe what I see with my own eyes, and what I hear from reliable current students. however, you might have found some recent info that I didn't. thus, since I couldn't find what you did, could you help me to woman enough status and post the websites you found via the netscape search? I would really appericiate it because as I said I believe what I see with my own eyes.
I don't really care about the pizzahut renting issue because I have seen pictures of the new buildings St. Chris uses. I saw the pictures on the underground forum and on the St. Chris friendster profile. I guess you haven't seen those, and I urge you to do so. You'll see the school isn't simply over a pizza hut anylonger.
and as for the pizza hut issue, I don't think this issue warrants a oh the truth hurts cry. My friends in the USA have rented apartments over dental offices and along side restuarants because space was limited and they didn't care one bit. I don't see why schools have to be exempt from that? If the school has adequate classrooms with internet access, AC, enough chairs, and a bathroom for me to use during breaks then I'll be happy and won't care that the classroom with the all facilities is above a pizza hut.
as per your statement that St. Chris is not for traditional students but for students who could not get into medical school by traditional means...well welcome to the blanket statement that describes all the offshore schools. however, this shouldn't matter to you because you are going to apply to howard/georgetown/where ever else and won't have to worry about the IMG stigma, so congrats. I wish I had that luxury, too. and as for St. Chris being mainly for UK students, I do not think this is true. From what I understand, St. Chris has more US and Can. students than UK students, but I'll defer this issue to current St. Chris students
now if you want to gripe about the senegal charter and how it might hurt my chances being licensed, the lack of fin aid for me, and the different things people at the nj office are telling me about when my tution is due then let's talk....otherwise, I'm done.

to whuds: i saw u're pm. good luck to me-oh no i don't think so-good luck to you buddie. for all i know u could be lying about asking 3rd semester students about threats. and no iam not old got accpeted into st. chris for jan'06. u know what i just came across some new info that I think all students should DEFINITELY TAKE A LOOK AT. please do apparently there are proof, a picture says a thousand words. first off take a look at the pizza hut buldings and the classrooms above it: www.valuemd.com/files/pizzahut.jpg (http://www.valuemd.com/files/pizzahut.jpg) also for the rest of proof and commentary just go to http://search.netscape.com and type in st. chrisotpher's college of medicine and you all shall see. bts, whuds, gabreildweildr, neileic have no defense now. go on and take a look at it. i going to apply at howard university where i graduated from an apply to there med school to the rest of you all good luck and see ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tanisha, LOL, LOL, you do not think we, the students know where our school is? The school rents 3 beautiful buildings,
one has staores infrom of it, one happens to be a Pizza Hut, the other two do not. So what? Whats makes a "real college" is the acedemics not the buildings. Have you looked at all the other schools in the world? You would also be dissapointed. GLad you will go somewhere else cause you can't handle the truth.
BTW the netscape link is broken, and you do not get banned for debates but for Flames and Attacks, Why do you attack what has St. Chris Done to you?

yup, i have finally come to the conclusion that tanisha is not someone that should be paid attention. if someone is just flat out not sensibe, you have to ignore. i checked the netscape thing and on the contrary, i found a review article about how st chris is doing well. Maybe i checked the wrong st chris tanisha is talking about.
I seriously believe applying to howard and other US med school will be good for you. i would be suprised if they don't find out what a trouble maker you are before they let you in. Let me guess.....you will probably catch an attitude with someone at the office and there goes your chance of getting in in the air!
Good luck

Holy crap! I go to school above a pizza hut? The building is not the greatest place of higher education in the world, but then again, I'm not the greatest student in the world, so it kind of works out.

the old valuemd threads that only had "good and nice" things to say about st. chris most likely came from bts or whuds who else like i said truth hurts and it is what it is. to amyames it's good u calmed down before getting defensive. i showed you what needed to be seen not only by you but for other students as well.

University of Michigan also has a Pizza Hut in it's student union, which happens to be located under university buildings... and the hospital I'm training in with 100% US med students is technically located over the Starbuck's in its lobby... the Pizza Hut in Luton is the same thing. Is it really true the school is located above a Pizza Hut??!!

Oxford University mathmatics building has the exact same setup as st chris. On the side of their building is a pawn shop and corner grocer. What does that say about Oxford University?

you all sit up here and defend the school but can any of you tell me where the licensed physicians are in US. there are claims that there are 4 licensed physicnas of st. chris that are practicing right now as we speak, but if that is so....THEN WHERE ARE THEY????????????????????????

wow... why so hostile ? you're gonna give yourself an ulcer lady, jus chill... ok i know someone who went to st chris, and she's set to do clinical in chicago... and as far as licensed physicians... why not (brilliant idea) phone the school :O and ask WITH COMMON COURTESY... without that cutey-patooty sense of maliciousness you got goin on...and minus the dramatics, just like a calm cool collected normal person who thinks of others when she speaks like you probably were before you got accepted to the jan'06 class and the prestige went to your head- ask... to know the names of these individuals and a way in which they may be contacted for licensing experience, information etc....mmm pizza.... you know... it's a damn shame... because a person can go about and change their academic career into a thing to be made an example of ... but deep down they will stay that same person attitude-wise to some degree... one day you're going to make a great physician with a really SUCKY attitude.<--- did you see what i just did there... it wasn't nice- i feel dirty. oh yeah n why didn' you jus ask the dude about all this before you got accepted as one of the criteria you would have considered before signing on to go to the school? to me that just looks super foolish... sucka.
HAHAHAHAH... man this is the best... comic relief.

manny, am not even sure if tanisha got accepted to SC. he/she probably got rejected and decides to take it out on the reputation of the school
About finding out before applying, i think that's a concept above his/her imagination. Only people with common courtsey and decency to address others politely would think of that concept.
But not to worry, he/she will come back at these post with even more attitude. tanisha is so freaking smart, his/her picture should be right next to newton's in the hall of fame.

first off a funsho I DID get accepted into st. chris for the jan '06 term. I have to be a B**** and ask questions to erase all doubt about the school. I graduated from Georgetown University and was quick to apply to a medical school that would accpet me and then suddenly "truthts" start flying here and there about how not to go the school and it will be a mistake if I do. I know medicine is not easy I also know that being the best of a student is up to the school but more so up to the student. His or her determination, preserverance and intelligence are what matter and count on the end. at the same time i do not want to be lied to or tricked when I could've chosen and gotten better. I never heard of st. chris at my school, i heard about it through a friend of a friend. so.... if you and and everybody else thinks that I am bashing st. chris that is your own business, i have to look out for myself, if i don't who will---you? I doubt that.

Tanisha we don't care about how you heard of St. Chris but I strongly suggest you go somewhere else. You have great doubts about the school, that is clear and there are so many other schools out there. Just search here on VMD and you can find schools that will take you. As for St. Chris it may not be right for you. IMO.
