I'm a non-US SMU student and so is my spouse - I was just wondering if there are anybody in the same situation and did the clinical rotation in US. It seems to me like if you want to do the green pathway then you will have to move around in US, which will make it difficult for my spouse to settle down and get a job, etc. I'm almost thinking that I'll do the blue pathway just because of that reason, so that we won't have to move around. When do the non-US (and non-Canadian) student start arranging their visas? Or their spouses?

I'm not familiar with the whole thing, so any information or tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

The first thing you and your spouse should do is to select states that you guys are willing to practice medicine. After you have selected states go ahead and look up the states legulations regarding green and blue. If the States allows blue, than by all means, do all blue. However, if there is a state that requieres all gree, such as Penn, then you will eighter pick another state, or move around during your rotations.

Hope that this helps

Thank you Nimmuk for your information - so when I leave Cayman and start the clinical rotation via blue pathway, my future location would be more or less determined for at least some years. It feels a bit scary... But I really don't want my husband to have to move around with me all over the places... I think I have no choice but to go for blue. Unless there are some places where I can do green in one place.

Thank you again. I appreciate your help.
