View Full Version : shifa entrance exam
Hi, can someone help me with Shifa's entrance exam. I have no idea what I should use to study for it. I got the "MCAT Jahangeer series" book. Is Shifa exam question like the question in those books are more like USA AP/SAT exams?
Is it hard? Those of you who have taken it, what helped the most? I have 1 month to prepare for it and I haven't taken any science courses in over 5 years. HELP!
thanks

Assalam-o-alaikum,
hey DONT read that ' Jehangeer;s MCAT book'....The MCQs that come in Shifa's exam are completely different than the MCQs in that Book. I am also applying for Shifa and will be taking the test with ya on 16th October....U shud read the Bio, Chem and Phy books of SAT II twice each....I am sure that woud be enough..
For any more questions, feel free to ask...
Take Care
See Ya...

Yea my dad was telling me about that last week! Isn't that horrible!! Good thing it's not the same one as Punjab, or that would have been a big problem.

But now I heard that since everyone did so good on the entrance exam they will make their choices based on FSc marks...so thats an advantage for those who did well and a disadvantage for those who have poor IBCC marks :( ...and yeah I'm glad too nothing crazzy like that happened in punjab... also nowdays competition in pakistan is increasing exponentially...so ppl are trying EVERYTHING to get into med schools! Its crazzzy down there!!!

Yea i know wat you mean sara. My cousin took the entrance exam for the Punjab government colleges, and it turns out they completely changed their expected format. My cousin spent months preparing in Lahore, but her efforts were in vain because of the changed format. When she went to take the test, she felt too nervous and did not do as well as she could have. Even so, I heard there are many people who got in the 80-90% range! That is crazy. Competition, as you have said, is definitely tough, even in "the motherland"!!! I was thinking about going to Pakistan becaue the competition in the U.S. is tough; looks like I'll have to reconsider :| I think we chose a bad time to become doctors haha :(

hehe...yup...seems like a very bad time...I dont know why esp nowdays, it feels impossible to become a doctor or just getting into any medical school around the world...I mean look around u, we see ppl trying for the Caribbeans, UK, US, Can, back home...everyone is trying to get in some where, trying to fulfill thier dreams, trying to make their parents proud, trying to make a difference in this world...and yet only few make it in the end :(

Yea competition is definitely tough. But in the end I think what's most important is never to lose heart, to always be hopeful, to keep your mind open, and to never lose faith in Allah SWT. Always be thankful for what you've got, and be hopeful, because you never know what the future has in store for you. If you make it you make it, if you don't, you don't. Life goes on. Perhaps it wasn't in a person's best interests to become a doctor. There are always other fields to excel in. That's my mindset. There are still plenty of other fields out there, and as long as you have good intentions and are willing to workhard, Allah SWT will help you along the way.
