it really depends where you are located. I am in california so everytime I used to call about 12 pacific time the gardner office was closed. so I tried earlier ( about 8am pacific time) and I got in. I am assuming their schedule is from 8am-4pm so just be careful from what area of the USA youre calling! good luck

hi...I live in Massachuseets not far from SABA's Gardner office, and have had telephone calls during regular business hours (9am-5pm) answered by the service. It is kind of a hit and miss thing I guess regarding the office staff. However, I did finally get through to someone to ask about the B.S. in Health Sciences program and the staffer I talked to to had NO idea what I was talkng about. I told her it was on the website, it was possible to apply with 90 credits and I wanted to know if she had any statistics regarding this program, just basic info...she then proceeded to tell me I should call back AFTER I rec'd my ** because you had to have a four year degree to apply to medical school. Really?...is that how it works??? LMAO Soooo....I emailed the school directly for the info I needed, I do hope your experience with the Gardner office is better than mine.
My interest in SABA was prompted by an EMT partner of mine who went there several years ago and enjoyed her time on the island. After 10 years as an paramedic I have returned to school (I already have a B.A. in English) and will finish all prerequisite science classes next May. MY MCAT practice scores are all double digit and current science GPA is 3.82... the B. S. in health sciences was just an option I wanted to consider.....too bad I had to contact the school directly when I am 20 minutes from their US office...

You don't have to have a bachelors degree to apply to Saba...unless that just changed recently. You just need 90 undergrad hours.
I notice some students here with the bare minimum struggle with classes. (Some people are going to hate on me for that one...but it is true.)
I don't know if that has to do with only having 90 hours of undergrad, or a propensity to take shortcuts.

Hey Wolf, are you saying people that do not complete their B.A. or B.S. struggle, or are you saying that people that only take pre-med pre-req's struggle. From your experience what about students that were non science majors like Psychology, Economics, or History or any of the social sciences that complete a bachelors degree?
Thank you in advance.

I'm saying that those with just the 90 hours bare minimum that is required to get into Saba, which includes the pre-med prerequisite courses, struggle. This is of course only limited to a few individuals I have met, and I am making a blanket generalization from my observations that may or may not apply to anyone else. So I could be wrong. ;)
It is well known that non-science majors do fine in med school. I seem to recall a journal article that recently stated that majoring in history correalated strongly with superior performance...but I'm too lazy to look up the reference right now.
If it helps any, I have degrees in psychology and religion, chemistry and biology, and education. None of them have helped too much in first semester.
All you need in first semester is the ability and discipline to memorize a phone book.
I'll let you know how 2nd semester goes.:hiding:

Make that a "Latin phone book".

Thanks for the good input. It seems as if the classes in undergrad. are there to build critical thinking skills.
