wireless internet

This question for the people in the dorms or in apt for that matter. Lets say I gat cariserve or the other broadband internet service can you than use a router to provide wireless internet for other people as well. If that is the case can the high price of internet be offset by numerous people sharing it. I understand this can be illegal or what not I am really not interested in the legality of the matter but in plausibility of carrying out such. Has anyone tried this or are there people currently doing such things. I am by no means a computer literate when it comes to networking and such so can the technical minds please chime in and tell me if this can be done.

you can do it, but the building is not kind to wireless signals, they do not travel far. your next door neigbhoor will be able to get the signal, but not the person 2 doors down.

and make sure you enable the security or else some A-hole will hijack your account and use it to download bad asian porn. Not that the porn is bad, just that it will suck up all of your bandwith and not let you downlaod the clown porn you want.
