I cannot decide between SGU and SABA. I beilive I would get higher USMLE step I score If I go to Saba (Because of course formats, Kaplan review course and computer examination) however SGU has very strong clinical sites compare to Saba. SGU is 100 K more expensive. I guess I am not sure about Saba's clinical sites. I can do all of my third and forth year rotations in one hospital If I go to SGU compare to Saba and I think I would have more opportunities for doing research in New york. but I do not know if 100 K is really worthed or not. I am considering Gen Surg for residency and that makes it harder for me to decide between the two. I am not sure how many people matched to surgery from Saba but I know a guy matched to Mayo clinic couple years ago from Saba. I know many people matched to surgery from SGU, I also know that SGU has 4x more students. In 2005 match, one matched to surgery from Saba and maybe 20 matched from SGU. but I do not know how many people from Saba actually applied for surgery? maybe only one person wanted to do surgery!! Anybody can help me to decide?

surgery isn't particularly hard to get into right now. And, step-1 scores are THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

If you have money, go to SGU. if you want to have a quality edu with cheap tuition, then go with SABA. Comparision two Crribean Shools makes no sense however I admit that SGU have more edges when it comes to clinicals.
Good luck
Yes,
You can get a quality education for a cheap price at Saba but if you got in to SGU I would go to SGU. You might have a better edge at SGU but it is possible to do well coming out of Saba

I think that if you want to go into general surgery that you should consider St. Georges. They have a great reputation and have as you have already discovered, placed a great number of students into general surgery.
The decision is up to you. I think SGU may give you a little edge, but if you study hard, kill step I, and get great clinical grades and great LOR's, you can get a surgery residency from Saba as well. If you don't do the same from SGU you will likely not get a surgical residency.
At this stage in your life, it is more about you and not about the med school where you went. You need to look at places where graduates from each school have matched. This will help you find a spot, but again if you are all that, you can get a spot anywhere!
Good luck on your decision and I hope I have not created any more confusion.

Saying that you know you want surgery now is somewhat optimistic.
I have many friends that are in or have been in medical school in Canada and the US and none are pursuing what they thought they would be when they started. In fact, most of them changed their minds all of their way through 4th year.
