Hi,

I am from LA/Orange County and am waiting to hear the results of my interview. Hoping to be doing clinicals in California in a few years :-) if I get in here.

I was too late for Jan '06 (was told it filled by August) but am open for May now.

good to hear more and more californians are being part of the saba family. Does any body know the hospital affiliated to saba here on california?

Hi,

When I interviewed with "Dr. Barbara" she said that next year she expects to have a few more rotations there. There is also a student doing clinicals now who is working to get a few of his rotations in California.

I don't know how many are in Saba from California, but perhaps, if all of us have at least one site we can work on...it wouldn't be long before clinicals in California would be expected.

California has so many major mega-hospital sites that already allow "offshore" med students...hopefully, they will welcome us too? And the next step would be residencies there :-)

It is certainly worth the effort. Shirlee

I'm from CA and I'm currently a student at Saba. I was surprised to read about 2 or 1 rotations in CA. The fact is wrong. To my best knowledge there are no rotation in CA. Saba is working on getting some, but it will take a while. The best way to get a rotation in CA, is to find your own. After you find your own than you can build a relationship with that hospital and maybe then the hospital will allow other Saba students to go there. It's a very difficult process to establish relationship with CA. It took over 10 years to approve some paperwork, how about letting Saba students practice on Californians. Furthemore, the hospital that do like IMG's have already students from SGU and Ross. It will be some time until we get through. But there's plenty of rotations in US. Not to worry. We are lucky that we at least can get our license after we graduate. All the success to Future Californians at SABA. Be of luck. Study your butts off cause it ain't easy.

Hey I'm Matt, originally from NY but been doing some grad work in San Francisco, CA and planning on trying to get a clerkship and eventual residency up here.

I'm leaving for SABA May'06 If there's anyone currently living in Northern CA, or even visiting, PM me and maybe we can get together before that.

There's also a few people who are going to try and meet in St. Maarten and take the ferry together to Saba.

Feel free to PM me! See you all in May!

I'm surprised how many people from Orange county are going to Saba...I thought 'd be the only one. I'll see you all in Jan. 07 or Sept. 06 if the waitlist works out for me.

Hi all,
I'm from SF. I'm starting in september and I'm glad to see there are other californians coming.
How's everyone doing with housing? I'm putting off finding anything for now (bad idea?) because I'm still on a waiting list for another school. When is everyone flying out? Is anyone planning on meeting up at the ferry? It would be nice to spend a day in St. Maarten and get to to know people.
