Hi!
Thanksgiving break is the same as it is everywhere else...IF you go to a US school. However, Thanksgiving is a US holiday, not an antillean holiday, so we have class that day. As a matter of fact we don't get any US or antillean holidays off. In the year I have been here, we have only had one day of classes cancelled, and that was this semester for the Clinical Fair.
Last Thanksgiving there was a really nice dinner at the school with lots of good food and even entertainment. Dr. Van Wormer, the path professor has a little side thing he does, square dance calling. So, there were a lot of squaredancers out there having a lot of fun. They had a big screen up too for videos or images or something. It was a really nice dinner. It's not a sitdown everyone pray and tell each other what you are thankful for kind of dinner, but more of a free for all type with the food set up in the Rotunda.
More than likely you will have a test around that time. We had an anatomy exam very shortly after Thanksgiving.
A little piece of advice, mark down all the holidays, birthdays, anniversaries you miss during the semester, and celebrate during break. Make a week or 2 celebration!

Just as a side note, I doubt we will get US holidays off when PGY1 and 2 either. Furthermore, if you plan on going into OB/GYN like myself you can say goodbye to them for the next, oh 10 to 15 years.
Now I know what I should have said last thanksgiving, I am greatful for what could be my last dinner on this day :)

The Antillean thanksgiving day is 1 week after the American one, I was told by a local one time... It marks the end of the hurricane season. so go celebrate with them if you can!
