I didn't realize there's an office max.

I've only gone down the street as far as the Dave&Busters game arcades.

Office Max is just a couple blocks past the water park with log rides.

Now perhaps I didn't read enough sarcasm into your statements,

But did you say there's a starbucks in Dominica?

and a Dave and Busters? (how in the hell do they stay in business?)

If there really is a starbucks I don't really care what happens with the
library/classroom problem......(grin)......

sweet, sweet caffeine...... if only you could be mated with alcohol for
the forces of good.......

No, you guys have it all wrong! Starbucks is now in the shadows of the Cineplex 18 Theaters, across from the ski slopes.

I am SO naive......

(wouldn't you be pleased to have me as a classmate, just imagine the wild goose chases you could send me on)

I'm sure you aren't the first who would like to open something like a Starbucks on/near campus. As far as I understand, it can be done but is NOT done simply because the govt. here is too strict to let anything in. They feel that nobody would frequent the "Shacks" and other local businesses here...now I know that nobody down here cares to foster the local business (esp. since its so damn overpriced), but it looks like we cannot do much since we must live as guests on this island.

Anyone know if there's a webpage where I can find Domenica's policy on
foreign investment?

If for example, I wanted to set up a small business, and sell coffee/danishes/beverages/venti non-fat no-foam lattes (grin), somewhere close to the school?

I know I wouldn't have time to do this if I was a med student, but it seems as if I could probably find some reliable student-spouses to run the place. Hmmmm...... a way to pay off medicine debt even faster.....

Cheers,

Spouses are allowed here on a visa that states "not allowed to have gainful employment" unless you go through a lot of hoops and they feel you are not competing with the Dominican people. There are PLENTY of places here to buy coffee and muffins. The bookstore even sells the fancy coffees.
