I've heard a lot of people ask about orientation, when it usually occurs, etc. I understand it is right before classes start. However, my question is what is involved in orientation? I would guess they go over the classes, school info, etc, but are there island tours or anything for spouses/family members?
thanks,
Christen
Yeah..I would like to know more about orientation too. How long does it take?
Thanks

Hey ladies and gents,
It seems like just yesterday that I was at orientation. And now several months and my first semester are gone! Anyway, orientation takes most of the day. It's starts around 8 AM and lasts almost till dinner time. You will recieve lots of information about classes, rules and regs, motivational speeches etc...
You'll hear several administrators and professors speak on issues concerning school and achademics. There will also be reps there from the cayman community. People from the Cayman police dept, World Gym, Bank of Butterfield etc.
Basicly, you're gona be listening to these people all day long, learning about what's expect of you and what not to do!! And that's it! Hope this helps! Take care! If you need anything more specific, post it here or PM me!

I believe orientation is on the 29th of August.
Basically it lasts the whole day as someone stated previously.
For me though, seemed like a big waste of time, just my opinion.
Also, someone asked about island tours. I believe there are plenty of tours on the island, but you will have to set those up on your own.

Hey,
It is the first day of class and it is all day just listening to people speak!! So it is kinda boring..but at least you get all the info in at once.
As for island tours...when you get here..try and pick up these little slender vacation booklets outside most stores ..they have package tour discounts in them..and there is another book that is smaller also found outside stores called vacation cayman or something like that which also has discount tours...But honestly, if your family comes down...if you can swin..the best thing to do is go to sting ray city snorkeling trip..its like the best known thing here and loads of fun...you can send me a PM and i'll give you the link to look at some pictures from stingray city when my friends came down if you like... It's really cool...you can see all sorts of fish, these baby nurse sharks, and eels....they just swim around..and it's a lot of fun....and of course the stingray city!!
hope that helps a bit.
