From the people who have scooters, my understanding is that you do have to get is licensed and you have to get a cayman driver licenses. Although, if you buy the scooter from someone it's probably the same as switching a car title over..you probably have to just pay to have it put in your name and then get the car relicensed when the permit is up...I know they give car permits for 6 and 12 months..not sure for scooters...not sure on price either...

I know you can get a brand new decent scooter (including all paperwork) for around 1700-2000CI. You might be able to find some used scooters around also. I think your best bet would be to buy a car if you can. It rains fairly often here and so it would suck to be on a scooter in the rain. Also, scooters aren't extremely safe. If you pay another 1000-2000CI or so, you can get a pretty decent car which you will probably be able to see for about the same price when you leave (if you take good care of it).
