How's the Weather??

Windy there yet?? Miami NHC posted A"Tropical Storm Warning" for Dominica at 11:00 pm AST, 7/20/03, and a "Tropical Storm Watch" for St. Lucia. Just wondering what it's like.

The storm must have just missed us since I didn't feel or hear anything! I don't think it has rained since yesterday morning.

Thanks for the reply 2ndyear. At 5:00 AM EST NHC says it's rapidly approaching the middle Lesser Antilles. If time allows would someone post what conditions are like later this afternoon, 7/21/2003 ? I'm curious as to how the actual conditions are in relation to what NHC Miami reports in their advisories. There is still a "Tropical Storm Warning" for Dominica as of 5:00AM EST 7/21/2003.

It should hit Dominica late this afternoon, I think.

I was kinda hopin it would move north some and give those of us in SXM some fireworks. I've never been through a hurricane in the islands (drove through one in Mississippi once, though), so I'd like to get a smallish one before I have to deal with a major hurricane. :shock: You know, sorta like a test-run. :)

My wife and I stocked up on non-perishables and bottled water months ago, so we are set.

Since it's characterized as a Tropical Storm, that just mean we'll be getting a whole of rain and windy situation. These would be the best situation for all of us, I'm sure. Although it's sunny right now, something tells me it's just the calm before the storm. The school buildings are quite secured though, so we're told.

There has been off and on heavy rain the last hour or so...just like most other days! Think it will get worse later..the university sent us an email saying it was downgraded and that we should expect 35 mph winds and 1-3 inches of rain...

As far as we can tell right now, the "storm" was a FLOP.

TD 6 was downgraded to a "wave" at 2:00 PM EST and the Tropical Storm Warning was canceled for Dominica at that time. It was interesting to follow the progress of the advisories vs the posts on this thread. You students on the island, thanks for posting. I'm glad it was "no big deal".
