Am? .
Half way through the first semester I loaned my kid a good set of walkie-talkies, and they became very valuable. They were great for keeping in touch with her friends when a phone couldn't be used or wouldn't work, plus they were way-cheaper.

That's a good idea....I hadn't thought of that. What type of range did they get?

Hello moderator Dru:
I didn't realize walkie talkies worked all that well. I guess it depends on what type you purchase. Can you please elaborate and provide a little more info? Like what kind did you buy, were, how good a range did they get?
Thanks!
I used a pr. of Radio Shack's better ones. They got great reception on any channel from a distance of 2 to 3 miles, depending on your location. If you are on the coastline of the island, it may be a straight shot to the other radio, but remember that reception in mountainous areas is poor.
