Hi i was planning on going to med school from like grade 9. Oh yea allow me to introduce myself, my name is sankar and i am a canadian. Well, i have lived there for the past 7 years and probably visited india twice (atleast according to my memory) I did well in bio (85%) and chemistry (86%) but did very poorly in physics (52%) I have never been good at physics. With my physics mark, i knew i had no chance at manipal or any good medical school for that matter. I was going to do another year of highschool but then applied and got into *****aka missions medical school in salem, Tamil Nadu. I know the place will be very different from canada but can anyone give me a glimpse of the place or just anywhere in india. Thanks and it would be so great. Also, i heard that you have to do 3 months of internship in india as compulsary but you can do 9 months abroad such as the US perhaps. Can anyone give me more info on that like how i may go ahead and do that? Thanks guys and any help would be great.

Hey,
I am from Canada too. I was studying in Manipal for a bit in their Melaka-Manipal Twinning program. I think your grades that you have posted, should be sufficient to get you a seat in the KMC program in Manipal. Just contact them and give them your grades. They will be able to tell you whether or not you qualify for admissions. If you have not been to India, it can be a bit challenging. But is an enjoyable place! After graduating from an Indian Medical School, you can return to US or Canada to do your residency, but you would have to sit for the USMLE(3 Steps) or MCC Evaluating Exam and Qualifying exam (2 parts). The USMLE is for doing residency in the US. The MCC exams are required for Canada. If you join the KMC program in Manipal, they required you to do 1 year of internship in Manipal after your 4.5 years of studies. There are many Canadians and Americans who are in the KMC program. If you have a B average, I don't see a problem in you getting in. Just apply and see how you do. KMC is recognized in the US. You would have a better chance of getting a residency placement in the US than Canada. Hope this helps. If you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks a lot for that info. My overall average was 79% but the physics really dropped it down a lot. I was also looking into the one in Salem, TamilNadu because i have a lot of family near that area so i won't be that homesick. Its called *****aka Missions medical school. The thing i wanted to know was that i heard you can do 3 months in india for internship as its a requirement but you can do 9 months in the US which i heard will increase your chances for residency. Thanks a lot and any help or info would be great.
