Hey guys,
Do the Biochem tests come from the notes or the book or both? Also, are the tests mult. choice?
Just trying to get an edge, ha ha ha

Hey Josh,
Yes, the exams are 40 multiple choice questions and come straight from their notes. For Dr. Trotz, you kind of have to go to class to understand her notes and to fill in explanations and stuff like that. On the other hand, Dr. Berisch's notes HAD everything in them you NEEDED to do well. Dr. Trotz and Dr. B just started using powerpoint this semester so their notes may have changed some. You will only really need the book for clarity on a particular topic or something you didnt quite grasp in lecture, but other than that the book will collect dust.
See you in a few,
Todd

Guys,
Which teacher is harder? I am assuming that the finals are comprehensive, right. How are the lectures structured? Questions/powerpoint ...
If these questions suck, I am sorry.
Just trying not to be totally in the dark when I arrive,

It's a tough class, but as long as you work at it, you'll be fine.
I find Dr. Trotz' exams to be more technically difficult, but I liked them better, because she is straightforward and you know what you need to know, if you know what I mean. :) She tests minutae, like what AA residues are cleaved or acetylated or whatever, but she doesn't make it a mystery that she thinks these points are important. Now, with her powerpoint, it isn't so imperative that you attend her lectures like you had to when Todd and I went through it. We got packets of diagrams, and you had to fill in things and mark important points. On her powerpoint, all that is now done. But you still should go to her lectures.... she pays attention to who isn't there.
Dr. Berisch is a more easy-going guy, but I didn't care for his lectures as much (sorry Dr. B, if you're reading), because I had trouble following his train of thought alot. Dr. Trotz is very methodical, while Dr. Berisch tends to be a little more.... well... all over the place. I don't like his question writing, as I find it kind of vague and not easy to determine what exactly he wants to know. But some people like Berisch better. It's all a matter of preference. I will give him this, he honestly wants everyone to do well, and he will go out of his way to help you out if you ask his help. So does Trotz. She is just a little harder to approach because she seems so cold and methodical. You'll see, don't worry. Lots of people manage to make it though. It'll be fine. :)
