quick airline ticket advice? 12/16 return date?

I just got into the August class on wait list and have to get to SGU from Denver next thurs or fri (8/11/05 or 8/12/05) or less ideally a couple of days before or after that. I have the general SGU info on American Airlines and their discount and the Air Jamaica options, but would take any last minute info that people could offer. Is the school's recommended travel agent (e-mail, phone#?) better to go through? What's the most realistic sort of price range can I expect to get down to on 7-day notice?

Also, when should I book my return? Is the SGU info right about not booking til after the Progress Review Committee postings on Wed. Dec. 14, 2005 (i.e. earliest return-flight booking date would be Thurs 12/15/05)? If one is confident that they'll pass all their courses (based on performance in senior-level biochem courses, high MCAT, etc.), is it possible, reasonable, permitted to leave after the last final on 12/9/05?

majority of ppl leave a day or two after their finals....if u're confident that u'll pass ur classes...then it should be ok to go ahead and book ur return date for the day after the final......i think most ppl from my class last term left right after their finals...due to some problems with Air Jamaica, i ended up leaving on the same day as my last final, which was about 3 hrs after my biochem exam (i wudn't recommend that though, too stressful)....a few did stay for the academic progress meeting.....but if u're in the alternate program, then u will have to stay for the acadamic progress meeting

Great to hear someone from Colorado is going!!!!! Im leaving on the 11th at 7:12 am if you just happen to be there! Also, I booked my return flight to be the 12th so I could have a couple days off after finals to relax and pack.

what is the "alternate program"?

You do anatomy, histology, clinical skills in term 1a.

You do biochemistry, embryology, immunology, genetics in term 2a.

And then physiology, neuroscience, and parasitology in term 2b.

You also need to attend a minimum of 1 review session per week (which is very easy to attain).

She's awsome and got me a better deal than anything I could get at expedia, travelocity, and AA, and got me almost exactly the dates and times I wanted at the last minute when everyone else said everything was booked and it would be impossible.

Also, does anyone know how to remove this thread, since I now have solved the problem it's about? I'm new to the forum.
