I thought I would comment on my experience getting clinicals thru AUC. First let me say how horribly stressful it was and how they took so long. I mean I faxed in my score sheet saturday night and they waited until MONDAY to call me.....dont these people know im busy and very important! Ok so after faxing in my score sheet on saturday I called and left a message with the clinical director, it went right to his voicemail. I left a message. Then this morning I called back just to verify the score sheet was faxed correctly and I got a phone call back within 2 minutes. WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING 2 MINUTES?!?! then he was like listen i can set you up completely in NY if you want at the same hospital for all but psych, which you'll have to do at another hospital in queens. and i was like no no ive heard you force everyone to go to england, i cant go to england, i dont want to get mad cow moooooo. so he was like please stop moo-ing at me i can set up all your cores in ny. i was like no i cant go to england, i wont be able to get a competitive residency. i heard from someone who knew someone who knows someone whose brothers, friends, cousins, uncles nephew went to auc in 1990 and they were forced to go to england or risk castration. the clinical director was like ok so we'll set you up for all your cores in ny and you'll get an email verifying this shortly.
i dont know what happened, why was i treated differently? i thought EVERYONE was forced to go to england for clinicals

sorry for the sarcasm, it is my specialty.....by the way i was impressed with how quick, painless and organized setting up clinicals was

cheers

Do you want me to give them a call and see if I can talk them into forcing you to go to England? I would also give them a earful about how long it took for them to get back to you. G

I hope they get back to you in less than 2 days. Do they take weekends off or something?? And I hope they get you set up in your rotations so you can start sooner than Swimguy. I mean, soon...that seems like an eternity. G

i just dont understand why i was treated so differently.....it must be because of my background, i mean i am german, lithuanian, czech, sicilian, and russian. here is what i would like to see improved from the clinical department at auc
1.) quicker responses - taking sundays off is NO excuse and I want a call back in 1 minute not 2
2.) pressuring me to go to england, i know the whole ny thing is just a trick
3.) a circus midget

after you give them an earful for me G set up my electives, micro, anencephalic, levator, rrod, and i all want to do an elective together with you

You are not alone. I called and faxed them my score. 3 FREAKING MINUTES!!!!! I mean, I barely had time to boot up Counter-Strike. Then I was like, "I want to go to Ireland." And they were like, "No--- We are sending you to Ireland, you scored below 270 on the boards and everyone that scores that low has no choice." I was like, "Noooo!! I voluntarily choose to go to Ireland. I mean when will I ever get an opportunity like this??" And they were like, "Sorry, we are forcing you to go to Ireland, and that is that. AUC students don't have any choices that we are aware of."

And **then** they had the gall to tell me exactly what I would need to get there!!!! And check this out, they actually wanted me to call if I had questions or needed help. The nerve!

I am fed up. I think I'm going to transfer to an American school or SGU or Saba or something. I have to do clinicals in a certain hospital or I won't get a residency. Bastards...

i think this should be stickied and more disgruntled auc students can post their horrific clinical stories online.....

and 3 minutes is even more unacceptable than 2.....maybe teratos can yell at them on your behalf too

Like I said, it's all Teratos' ploy... He called MEAS and told them the "hitlist"

He said, I don't want these people in Baltimore:

Microphage
Anencephalic
rrod
swimguy
Ditch Doctor
dc79md
minotauro
MushieCookie

And look!!! Nobody from valuemd has gotten Baltimore!!!!!! I THINK ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!!!!!!!!

Think about it, all we get are cores that we never have to move around for!!!! I'm appalled!!!!

I DEMAND A NEW TOY STORY 3!!! (and kill off buzz lightyear.. he's annoying)

Wow, I just have to say, this is officially my favorite thread of all time. Thanks Swimguy for starting it, and thank the rest of you for continuing the sarcasm. Perhaps now, those that are still on the rock, when someone comes up with some out of line crap about clinicals that they know absolutely nothing about...that student will just remain quiet and firmly kick the rumor mill student directly in the junk.

Damn, wish I was going there, I could supply my dog... I came back and my lab that enjoyed island life and wasn't worked in over a year remembered almost everything! But he has a little trouble with blind retrieves... Oh well, could be worse... I was worried, but damn he's smart. I should have trained him to take the USMLE he probably would have beat my score... Although I did train him to make a nice latte, but he puts too much foam on it and I get all farty..

I know I shouldnt be worrying about this for another 2yrs, but I cant help it... how hard is it to set up your 4th year rotations? I am sure you will all have plenty of words of advice on not to worry about it, but those of you type A's can understand. I hope.

Thanks.

Being like you (the epitome of Type A), I was frustrated by the lack of communication from the clinical department during my 1st and 2nd semester...for what it's worth, do yourself a favor and don't worry.

So much changed from the time I matriculated to the time I left SXM...there's a good chance that even if we told you what our experiences are currently, by the time you are in that same position, the info wouldn't be accurate anyways...

Aloha,
