I have been hearing some disturbing news about the recent classes and there step 1 pass rates. I hear that only 55% of the recent classes have been passing step 1 on there first attempt. Is there any concreat proof that this is incorrect? If so where could I as a student go to find out.
The school also states that it has a 82-90% pass rate, what is the truth.

Does USMLE publicly release stats like "of all Ross students taking Step 1 in this exam period, x number pass"?
If not, does Ross allow independent auditors to look at their records?
If not, what is truth?
The reason i feal this happens is because the school implements a curve. This I believe is very bad in the long run. Why, because most students will coast by and pass having gotten 50% on there
exams. They then go of to miami and get traped in the USMLE net. You want students to pass the USMLE the get rid of the curve. I have been here at Ross and have never gotten below a 70% raw. I love the school and my experiance has benn great but, if the school wan's respect they need to either get ris of any curve or start selecting better people.

the truth is very very simple! It doesn't matter if ross pass rate is 1% or 99%, you are the one who will have to take the exams yourself, no one else can do that for you.
You can choose which caribbean schools to go to, but in the end, it is you who will go thru the exams.
So doesn't it really matter what pass rate is?! If you chose to go to ross, then you have already made the decision for the pass rate.

Where did you get this information? Did you get it off the NMRP website? The NMRP website states that all IMGs from all schools has a 55% pass rate. The NMRP do not post individual school's passing rate for Step 1. Internally, I hear the Ross pass rate in the pass year is 90% but I don't know if it is true. From many of the alumni and 3rd year students I have spoken to, Ross does prepare its students real well for Step 1 and beyond. It is still up to us, however, to learn the info. And there are mountains of info to learn!

Medic105.
Will you PM the names of some of these students to me? It's interesting that your friends say that the pass rate is so LOW since I know of so many people in the past two semesters who have either done well or average on Step 1 and are already in clerkships!
By the way, are you the same Medic105 who frequently visits the SGU forum?

While it is true that it is up to the students to pass their own USMLEs. The rate does say a little about how well a school prepare/educate its students. A higher pass rate would sure makes prospective students feel better about their decision. So if you know it, post it.

I agree that a good pass rate tells you a lot about a school and the students who attend that school. The number posted below is not true, Ross has been averaging about 90% for about two years now from what I've heard. If you REALLY want the REAL truth, call Dr. Angelakos (Provost of Ross University) and he'll be happy to speak with you.
