I know the thread got closed but im bringing it up anyways

MD999 make sure you have a clue about what you're talking about before you open your mouth.....
"They might not be the exact exam, but more like "remembered questions". SMU does, AUC does, Ross does, SGU, St Chris does (yes I have friends there to confirm it too). At AUC they even sold the old biochem exams in the noteservice shop.

why dont you finish the sentence md999 or maybe you dont know how to finish it, maybe you're ill informed or maybe you have know idea what the heck youre talking about.....yes old biochem exams were sold in note service shop put into noteservice by the professors! They rewrote a new exam for the material every time.....whats wrong with a professor giving out old exams? NOTHING.....if they make up new questions there is nothing wrong with it.....if you believe there is then you shouldnt do PreTest or Qbank bc a similiar question might appear at on your Step 1!

You can only ask a medical question about a certain disease in a limited number of ways.
if you believe that then youre not exposing yourself to enough questions.....just wait until step 1, theyll show you how to take a simple concept and warp it into a new style

first off, people need to drop the holier than thou attitude.....i didnt cheat in school.....did i do old exams? yep, to test myself and understand the professors format, whats wrong with that.....theres nothing more irritating than people making comments like theyre informed and tehy have no clue.....2 students were expelled for cheating so its not taken lightly at auc.....get a clue before you comment

Alright, first off...
Yes, they were put in the noteservice by the biochem profs. Tons of old exams right?? Well, from what I hear, yes some of the questions are repeated. By asking a lot of former AUCers, I did my research buddy.
Also the anatomy exams by a prof a couple years ago, who wrote the "benchmarks". He'd put old exams questions on new exams right? From what I hear he used to repeat quiz questions onto the exam a week later or something.

Im studying for my step 1 now. My preparation for it is pretty much up there with the best of them. I dont want to reveal my resources at this time, but its been more than enough to get a 230 (Personally shooting for a 250 like some AUCer I know pulled a 255 last year). From the close to 3,000 questions I've practiced so far, a lot of the cases of a particular illness or disease have signs and symptoms that are more or less repeated in the stem somewhere. Sometimes they dont give it to you that easily. They tend to DESCRIBE the lesion if anything. Of course Step 1 tests your understanding of integrations and comprehension, they dont give one step responses anymore. Everybody knows that.
Well I have more 7,000 questions to go before I'll take my step 1, but for some reason I dont think I'll see too many variations in gout or PID or UTIs.
Big deal you took and passed Step 1. Congrats.
Anyways, I can go on and on, but I have studying for Step 1 to do. Go find another hobby to burn the wait period for your score report. Dont come on this forum bashing other people if you dont know what youre really talking about bro.

tons of old exams where majority of the questions are "which of the following is "not" correct".....for one, those questions are not used anymore therefore given as study questions.....get it right

On an anatomy written exam there would be 1 to 2 give me's right outta benchmarks, i cant remember much more than that.....he also threw in a few questions directly from what he said in class.....the majority of the exam was integration with clinical vignettes.....benchmarks are like 1-2 line questions with an answer.....the exam were paragraphs, but what would i know

secret sources.....

yeh of course they describe it, makes it more fun when they describe RLQ in a 17 yo sexually active female.....increases your differential much more than if they said periumbilical pain moving to mcburney's point

hmm if youre lucky no, i think i had 3 questions on gout, drugs, SE of the drugs and crystals but teh questions were out there.....

Big deal you took and passed Step 1. Congrats.
Thanks

thats my point exactly, youre basing your comments on "what i heard" not on what is the truth. Does cheating occur, of course there are dishonest people everywhere.....I'm not bashing you, im setting it straight.....you cant tell me you'd jump all over me if i said SMU was the worst school ever because i heard from a lot of people.....
anyways, thanks for the advice for picking up a hobby.....want to join me and be a training partner for the triathalons this summer, theres not better partner than one who critiques you.....cheers and best of luck on your exam

Reaction Formation - behavior that is completely the opposite of what one really wants or feels (e.g, claiming you're a genius, when u're really below average) Note - this can work in the short term as an effective strategy to cope, but will eventually break down.

There's definitely some paranoid delusions in there with the whole "not wanting to reveal my resources" but that ones pretty obvious.

Just something to help you reach that 250, bro.

LOL.
Didnt wanna put them on this thread cuz it wasnt relevant for the topic we were on. If you're really curious about what I've been using, go to the USMLE forum, I posted it a while ago on there.
Best of Luck.

I have no desire to emulate you in any way; quite frankly, you sound more childish then credible. I'll pass. Thanks.

I just wanted to back-up what swimguy said. Being a former AUCer myself I can tell you that the Biochem and Anatomy questions were rarely (if ever) repeated. This is why the profs for those classes would practically beg you not to memorize them. In fact, the anatomy prof whom you're referring to (Dr. C)would repeat some of the same questions, but change one or two tiny details in the question stem in order to change the meaning of the question entirely. If you had simply memorized the old questions, you were almost guaranteed at getting that question wrong. The insinuation that all you had to do was memorize the benchmarks to pass is laughable at best. Also, when I took anatomy, there were never any quiz questions repeated on the exam. I have no idea who these "former AUCers" you speak of are, but it's sad how little they remember about their former alma mater.
