Hey guys! So I was looking over the affiliated hospitals on the AUC website and it says that students can complete all clinicals at the Providence Hospital in Michigan, has anyone done this? liked it? Thanks!

rrod isn't real.... he's just a computer pretending to be a person rotating at Providence.

i'm a figment of my imagination....if that was true i'd be skinny, rich, and have a wife with enough platic and silicone on her to be stamped "Mattel"

**** here- Do we have to take a shelf exam at the end of each rotation-this came up the other day and another AUCer said we had to drive to Mich to take the exam at end of each rotation (core I'm assuming) I'll be calling the office but wanted to know what you know.

Its a beautiful Saturday here in Ohio and I'm on call- One day off a week isn't enough is it? I'm starting internal med subspecialty rotation for two weeks( of my 12 week core)with pulmonary intensivists. Start morning in SICU then do consults, then afternoon in office appointments. Should be fun! Anyway hope all is good up there. Today is my last day on internal med general floor service for a while.

Well if I have to come up to take that test I'm sure I'll be seeing ya! Later.

Kern is a testing site for AUC shelf test(I think). You could drop by and visit all of us here instead of just rrod.

btw: I have no call this month, my rotation rocks! :P

yes you have to take the next available shelf either right after you finish or if you are within 5 days of finishing you have to take it. come by and hang out for a day....we need to test them local brews and compare them to carib

Don't forget to test the local beaches... Just be sure to not drink the water.

You are on the wrong side of Michigan for the good beaches. If you ever get a day off and feel like taking a 3 hour drive head over to the west side. Some of the beaches were just featured on Good Morning America for some of the most family friendly beaches in the US.

I agree with the others- go to the West side of the state- beautiful beaches on lake michigan-- beaches that are much larger than sxm's.

If you hate Michigan so much, why did you come to southfield to do your rotations?

i never siad i hate michigan, i said they aren't beaches...its a lake. (its a florida native thing i guess) i love birmingham and west bloomfield were i live a lot better than chicago, southfield ain't bad and i've driven into detroit and its not any worse or better than chicago. i realy like it here, the parks are great the lakes are great, i just wouldn't go in the water after doing reseach in the biology dept and enviromental toxicology at the university of illinois...but lake volleyball and grilling on the side is cool, if i feel bold i may even venture on a boat into that mercury/lead ladden goodness......and hey if i run out of gas i can just fill it with lake water (i actually saw the water on lake michigan on fire once while in the field...very creppy)

if i didn't really like michigan i wouldn't be planning on staying here...you guys are stuck with me.

You need to visit the Somerset Collection in Troy. Closest thing to Chi-towns Michigan mile :)
