Bests Study aids used??

I realize that different students use different techniques. But which techniques did you guys find successful? Along with that..any tips for 1st year students?

Read notes, read book, take notes during lecture, ready notes, read book, read, read, read, study review questions and old exams, study with a partner and quiz eachother....then read things again.

If you have time to do it, it should work every time.

I'm a very visual person. A picture can tell a thousand words. I wouldn't be doing a pathology residency if i didn't believe it.

I used to scan review books and text books for charts/pictures/line drawings, anything that could summarize large amounts of text.

So i'd xerox or recreate pics and stick them on my bedroom walls, bathroom walls, mirrors (good while brushing teeth) etc....be creative!

Studying in the bathroom while doing your business never hurt either.
