Has anyone failed NBME tests that you can buy but still passed the USMLE step 1.
Just wondering.. All you ever hear is how these people DO SOO well on the NBME and get 99 on step 1.
Kinda makes me wonder if people just spout something off to make themselves look smart.
Where are the people that get 180-200, why don't they ever post?

I got a 450 and 490 on the nbme's.....im waiting for my scores which might be released tonight.
I know most people got very close to their nbme scores......one went down a few point, some went up a few points.....basically if you fail an nbme i wouldnt rely on luck to help you pass step 1.....but then again its just my opinion

i did around the mean on the NBME and got a 195 on step 1. i was bummmmmmmed.
but, did much better on step 2. don't worry, though. there are plenty out there that score in this range. people tend to not post the less than ideal scores, and i have a feeling that many even (shock!!) exxagerate.
step 1 is a very important part of your residency application. but, remember, it is just a part! there is a lot more to it, and a poor step 1 on an otherwise stellar application is just a small issue. if you score low, just be happy you passed and make sure that you shine on every other part of your application.

I agree.....people exaggerate a lot. my friends and i are all real honest with each other.....i know people who got 190s on nbme and passed above 200.....i also know people who dropped a few points. the mean is 500 for the nbme's with 100 point sd so its a huge variable. keep in mind that nbme is just an assessment
