what's the cellphone situation in Dominca.. rates? US plans? coverage?
also, when you see that a place has internet, is that usually dial-up or broadband?

i know someone at ross currently who managed to get a ny number. how does that work and what equipment may i need to bring from the states? (i don't think it was a router but there was some type up device she mentioned - any ideas?)

also, what things do i need to bring to make sure i can use the internet from my laptop?

hello barnardgirl the service i think you are referring to is a VOIP service or voice over ip commonly referred to as VONAGE. The device you saw is the vonage phone adapter. With this service, you can call long distance anywhere for a monthly fee based on your plan you select. refer to: www.vonage.com for more details
