I'm planning on bringing my digital camera and iPod along with my laptop...are they gonna tax those as well? also is it a good idea to put these items in my luggage? and do i need to find the reciept for all thsee things or just the laptop?

u can put it in your luggage. but if they ask for to check your luggae and finds it, expect to pay for them (usually at 5% of the retail value). if there are no recipts then its up to them to come up with a value for your item and then the 5% will be taken off from that.

Is depreciation taken into account for laptops? For instance, a $2000 laptop bought two years ago would definitely not be worth $2000.

yes it should, but if you leave it to the grenada immigration, they wont really care.

What if u put the cam and the ipod in ur pockets will they check them or like search u?

they usually wont search. but like i said if they did find out, expect to pay for them

just one more question regarding the tax....is the tax on other electronics also 5% like the laptop or is it more...i think i read somewhere on the SGU website that it might be like 40-50%...is this true??? anyone who knows about this please let me know....i'm getting so confused about what i should bring or leave behind....

electronic are usually at 5%. the 40-50% are usually on food and such. if u bring a bulk load and the immigration found out, they might charge u, its because they will think u brought that amount of food to re-sell them on the island...thus the fee.

hey guys,
just wanted to advise you guys to make sure the serial number on your laptop matches what is written on the receipt that the grenadian officials will give you after youve paid the fee. also, keep that document in your passport to avoid paying the same fee in future terms/visits.
