I heard that there will be no student disections of cadavers this fall. That there will be a few cadavers that will be disected and students will cluster around those. Is there any truth to this?

If there is anything you learn, SGU is the biggest rumormill on earth!!
That rumor has been around probably since you were crwling around you living room.
Dr. J is old school when it comes to his philosophy about anatomy(and one that is shared by many) that there is something inherent to the learning of anatomy that can only come from cadaver dissection- and I at least found this to be true- the sections that my group spent time dissecting were much easier to recall than the dissections that we didn't do (in all you do half the dissections, the groups alternate)- so I don't think this will go by the wayside anytime soon.

good to hear b/c I heard that possibility from an SGUer, and jack was nice enough to ask about it . Though I guess it is not completely ludricrous, as some schools stateside are apparently opting out of numerous student cadavers...if my source from the book Stiff wasn't way off base..It's one of those mixed feelings things I guess...

well i heard Dr. J saying how its getting harder and harder to get cadavers probably because of less donations. so there might be a possibility that they will go with fewer cadavers and u'll have to learn from prosections. If thats the case, dont freak out, at the end you'll still know ur anatomy and it'll probably end up saving you some extra time cutting out all that fat. just go in after hours with ur atlas and take a look. the labs and dissections didn't help me too much and i did just fine..the key is to visualize netters for each section and then go into the lab and actually see wut it looks like..and your gold!!
