didnt ravel on LIAT but i believe it is totalled 50lbs .
if you can avoid LIAT, try to avoid it. they tend to lose a lot of stuff. not one good experience from any of my friends

Babu took LIAT from Barbados (Air Canada from Toronto to Barbados). Since it was a connecting flight, LIAT adheres to Air Canada's 70lb baggage limit of 2 suitcases.
If you booked your LIAT ticket separately, I'm afraid you're in a dilemma, then you must conform to LIAT's limited luggage requirements.
But if its all under 1 itinerary, then LIAT follows your previous airlines' rules.

I have flown LIAT, it is 50 lbs each bag, 2 bags total - they will make you plane check any carryon that is bigger than a computer case, but they will plane check. If you are getting to Antigua via jet on say AA or US Air, etc and your tix is on the same record, then LIAT agrees to carry the 70lbs each bag that the other airline allowed you.IF however your LIAT tix is a separate tix, then you will have to follow LIAT rules, though they will let you pay for the excess bags (leaving from GND is a different story, they usually WON'T let you pay for extra baggage).
And BTW, LIAT really is no different from any other carrier in the Caribbean- I've lost my bags on US Air, my roommates have lost their bags on Air Jamaica, and AA, so its a crapshot any way you look at it.

How does this one work? They gave me two ticket for my gf. One Sky service from Toronto to Port of Spain and then separate ticket, LIAT, from Port of Spain to Grenada.... Do they follow the luggage allowance from Skyservice?
What would happen if she carries overlimit? Does she have to pay extra or what?
Thanks.

hey rokshana,
i'm flying jetblue to san juan and then i'll be flying on a separate ticket to grenada from san juan on LIAT. so i guess they will let me take the 2 suitcases-50 pounds each? and also will they let me pay for an extra baggage from san juan to grenada and if so how much do they charge for the extra baggage?

depends...she might pay extra or they might just leave that extra luggage there and fly it over at the next flight out.

Yes you and the other person who has 2 tix (toronto- POS, then POS GND) are considered to have separate records , so you will have to follow LIAT's rule. Now, this is the thing in the Caribbean- sometimes they won't care and will let you have your 70lb bags, N/C(they're in a good mood, the flight is light, who knows?), if this is the case- don't argue- smile and say have a good day!! But they may say you are overweight and you need to pay extra- to be honest I really don't remember how much it was from BGI to GND for 40 extra lbs(had to pay it, so....) it wasn't crazy, just annoying. If they do this- don't argue!!!! pay it and smile and say have a good day!!!
Caribbean Star lets you have 2 70lb bags, so for future reference book them for the Caribbean leg, be it SJU, POS, or BGI- then its not so much of a worry.

Yeah, she might be charged extra for this.
Tell her to smile, and she may get away without paying a cent! ;)

I always fly overweight on either Liat or Caribbean star. I reach up to the check in counter and beg them to let me go, cause my luggage is usually above 70lbs. But I can beg really good. HEHEHEHEHE. However, I still have to pay overweight.

ok great..so i plan to bring 2 suitcases-50 pounds..but what about carryon..wuts LIAT's restrictions on the carryon sizes and weights compared to what students ACTUALLY bring on the plane. will i get away with 22 inch carry that is fully stuffed and the backpack as a personal bag?

Yo, why didn't you just book with AJ? Why are you flying with LIAT? You live in NY, right? You should be flying direct, not with LIAT.

Practically every AJ flight has been cancelled, rerouted, or delayed the last couple of months-use to be their biggest cheerleader until it took me 36 hours to get back home this last time!
