its not a test; its the national board of medical examiners that certifies US grads. the ECFMG certifies IMGs but we all take the same exact exams.hi!

thanx but why does everyone mention i scored this much on nbme ? they might be talking about the old practic exmas the NMBE releases, but they are not of terribly great value. I think the more modern qbanks and such are better practice q's since the format/tone of the usmle has changed considerably over the years. but that's my view. Even the usmle people agree the old shelf exams are not questions you'll see on the boards. However having said that any questions are good practice.

people are referring to nbme forms a and b.....they are relevant for showing you approximately where you are in your studies and what you should concentrate on. people tend to take them 1 month and around 1-2 weeks before your actual usmle. most of the people i have talked to have hit right around their projected score

since they don't give you the answers and there aren't many of them they aren't for studying. they gauge how you will do by throwing a small sample of old questions at you. most people, myself included, have had their real scores correlate well with it so its probably a good measuring stick before the test....supposedly if you make 60-70% you should pass
