I got bunch of questions about this school. I just heard about it today. Hopefully one of you can answer it. Here they are:

1. Can I carry my credits over to this school without having to step foot on the island and go to clinicals in the States?

2. What if I fail my Step 1, will I still be able to enter into rotations in some hospitals?

I know already that I will be accepted into some clincal programs at some hospitals without having taken my step 1. That was one of my questions but that was answered to me.

Well, I hope u guys get back to me on this one. Thanks.

Well, the answer to number one is that I would assume so, I can't say for sure because I never asked THEM that question. To be perfectly honest, even if I was 100% sure, I would still recommend calling THEM. Because it's them who ultimately make that call, and poilicies can change any day with any school, so I would call.

As for #2, I know you can do rotations in Mexico....I have heard of others starting there without taking step 1. I believe I have also heard that spartan has clinical sites that will also let you begin without taking step 1. Again, I would call the school. You have to get it from the horses mouth. Get a name and time too.

Where are you currently at ? Europe ?

Cheers!

P.S. You're not going to FAIL Step one, you're going to PASS :D yeah yeah, i know, hypothetical...

It's easier and more reliable to first take a look at available information on the school website, then inquire with the school for specific questions before opting to seek opinions on the forums...

I didn't get any of questions answered when I searched the website. So I guess I have to call. Is there a school representative w/i the states who I can call? Thank you for your help.

You went to the website already and you need to be pointed out where to find contact information?

http://www.spartanmed.org/html/contact_us.html

In case you miss it, below is copied and pasted from the website:

PO Box 989
Santa Teresa, NM 88008
Phone: 505-589-1372
Fax: 505-589-1487
Email: Spartanmed@aol.com

And yes, NM is in US.

As for your previous questions, below is copied and pasted from the website link I gave you in my previous reply:

"Students can be cosidered to the fourth trimester of the program with/without the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1. Students should provide proof of passage of USMLE Step 1 for a favorable admission consideration.

Any applicant who has been detached from the medical education program for more than five years will not be allowed any credit for course work done previously. Such applicants will be considered for for admission into the First Trimester only.."

So yes you can transfer to Spartan, but no you can't go directly into clinicals with or without your Step 1.

There you have it Cranky, sorry my post is a bit cranky cuz I'm in a cranky mood... :?

You know when I think about it retrospectively that was a dumb post to put. Yeah I could've put the info down on paper since I visited the site. I think I saw it there. Well, I don't know, I wouldn't notice anyway b/c I was online so late at night that I was half-dazed so I apologize for that. Thank you for putting up w/ me. I didn't mean to put u in a cranky mood. LOL!!! Thank you again.
