Can someone describe how the usmle score works? I previously thought that you get two different numbers on your result card, and that total score that it is out of is always changing.
I have read some posts saying that they have got 260, which is probably really-really good, but what is the highest score that you can achieve?

Thanks
K

Yes 260 is 99 perentile. I think in order to pass, you need 185. But If you want to shoot for competative residencies try to get 230 or above:) with 260 on the step I, you will get ton of interviews:)

If the person took the test last year when the mean was 217.

A 263 or higher would be needed to be in 99 percentile
