The daily herald has reported seven deaths this year. How does the crime add up compaired to a major city in the states, like Dallas.

Also, there is mention of Americans beaten and stoned. (bottom left of paper) Is this normal?

265 murders in N.O. in 2004. (265/12)*7=154 murders in 7 months. 154/484,674=3.2e-4
7 murders in SXM in 7 months. 7/39,000=1.8e-4

3.2/1.8=1.8

This means that in N.O. you are 1.8 times more likely to be murdered than SXM.

Guess you are right concidering the number of times I partied in N.O. with no problems.
SXM here I come.

This may be the only place in the world where someone will steal your car, and drive it across the island, just to take your stereo and car battery.

FYI if suspect is caught driving your car, the car is returned to owner and the criminal gets a slap on the wrist and they call this joy-riding

If a stolen car is found abandoned and a person is found guilty of taking it, then and only then is there a legit charge for stealing.

Best of all If you run from the 3 cops they have the right to shoot you in the back!! A man "suspected" of murder was shot in the back last week as he tried to run from police..shot dead too

And when 3 bandits tried to rob subway, the cop shot the bandit in the back as he ran away.
