I purchased it online through Amazon a few days ago...I wonder if it will be released before I leave for SXM or even before September 1st! Keeping my fingers, toes, and accessory digits crossed!

Hey guys,

I wouldnt worry so much about getting the lastest edition of the colored atlas. I didnt buy the newest edition. When I compared mine to the new edition there wasnt much of a difference. In fact, I didnt use that book very often either, however, Netter's is a MUST! If you have your heart set on getting a colored atlas I can guarantee someone will be willing to sell theirs.

the imaging atals is not worth it. the images are in the lab for weeks at a time and are all labeled. most of us take digital pics and just look at them on TV or computer. then there are only one or two questions on images anyway and it is usually something he goes over in class(if you listen) so for me it wasn't worth it and if you must have it there will be some for sale here.

I actually do recommend the Imaging Atlas of Anatomy. I forgot all about that book. My post from yesterday was commenting on the Colored Atlas of Anatomy not the Imaging Atlas. It's nice to have your own copy of the images because the Anatomy lab can get really busy a day or two before an exam.

Dr Colborn is pretty big on imaging, he likes it alot. He wants you to be able to pick structures out of cross-section, etc.

Personally, I recommend the Rohen photographic atlas almost as much as Netter's. It is much more realistic (being pictures of actually dissceted cadavers), the only downside is almost no text, and it is a bit difficult to scroll down looking for numbers while in lab. I wouldn't recommend taking Rohen to lab anyways, it is much too nice. Get a several-year-old Netter's, and make that your 'lab book'. It'll get nice and nasty by the end of the sem.

Any advice for the other optional text books for semester 1 like:

Clinical Gross Anatomy -->Colborn & Skandalakis

Clinically Oriented Anatomy 4th ed, 1999 -->Moore & Daley (this one is not needed right?)

Photographic Atlas of Human Anatomy -->Rohen/Yokochi

Textbook of Biochemistry with Clinical Correlations 5th ed. -->Devlin (is this the must have?)

Thanks for all your help so far....

If you want to score some brownie point, ge tthe Colborn/Skandalakis, but I don't think there is much need.

I highly recommend the Rohen/Yokoche. Excellent text.

Devlin's Biochem is useful mainly for killing large, armor-plated bugs and keeping your back muscles good and strong as you carry it back and forth to class each day. Get the picture? Just get the notes for class and Lippincott's (Champe&Harvey, I think?) for Biochem, maybe a BRS if you want it. That's it.

cancelled my order and returned it. that's how much use you get out of it. the lab is busy between 7pm and 10pm ususally if you are a late night person like me it is more than available. i'm in there 2am sometimes. besides if you take your own pictures you don't even need the radiographs in the room. as for the "optional" books there are tons in the library and they even have the imaging atlas in there so it is useless to spend the extra green on stuff you will use maybe once. beleive me you will need the xtra cash since every islander out here wants to get their cut.
peace

Which edition did you guys get from B&N? I called 7 B&N stores in the Seattle area and none of them have it. :( UW bookstore didn't have it, Amazon didn't have it, B Dalton's didn't have it, etc. I'm beginning to hate this book and I still haven't seen it yet!

The mosby website says that it will come out 8/1/2003 so how come you guys are lucky enough to get it. <=== not fair. :x
