Hello,
I think this has been addressed before. I will try to see if I can find the thread. Is it feasible to ship a nice car to the island? I have been told
that it is not wise to bring a good car. Any thoughts?
Can anyone refer me to the place that I may obtain information regarding shipping to weigh my options?

Thank you

as far as i understand the process of shipping a nice car is the same as shipping a crappy one.

just a week or two ago some good infor was posted with contacts for shipping companies.

as for weather or not to ship a "nice" car here: Lamborgin-no, pathfinder-yes,BMW-no, hummer-yes, lotus-no, ford F250-yes, '65 shelby-no, M1A1-yes, lexus-no, new batmobile-yes

hope this info helped
but i also hope it was useless so i can boost my post count

Wrong thread. Please post all useless replies in the "AUC Banter" thread in an effort to keep up with SGU.

To the o/p: You may want to think twice about having a "nice" car on the island...the roads are poorly maintained, and everyone else drives a piece of crap and don't mind if they bump, ding, or dent each other's car....why should yours be any different?

Yoda's right....shipping for a nice car is the same as shipping a POS.

Why do you want to ship a nice car here?

I suggest you buy a 1975 cadillac coupe de ville, with a cattle guard welded to the front end. That car would excel in the roller derber you are about to enter.

I would not ship a nice car down here!!! The roads suck and the weather will destroy it plus you have to ship it back and I am sure deal with lots of red tape back in the US!!! Just buy a car here!!!!! Its much easier!!!
Good Luck!!!

lol... we g-tech'ed the charade. it made a hilarious 51 hp in 3rd gear at the flywheel with its 3 cylinders.... but it made a 10.85 second 0-60mph sprint due to its puny weight. so heres what you can beat: a base Atos, smartcar etc

to drd: i want to let you know that every single person who have shipped cars over from the US or ordered them from Japan have thanked god they did.
you can use the search feature to compare costs in leasing vs buying vs shipping etc.

let's just say, if you want to bring a decent used car down, you will either break even or make money at the end, rarely will you lose as much money compared to buying or leasing here.

Judging by the condition and width of the average SXM road, I would suggest a 4X4 golf cart with a good spare tire.

Yeah but if you think about it, it's 10.85secs for an automatic which ain't bad at all. A 1995 supra non-turbo automatic gets about 10 secs from 0-60. That thing puts out about 222 hp.
