This is in response to the post about Northwesternmedical review.I
tookthis course and passed step 1 at first shot very well. The course
wasexcellent - I did the ten day review it was a great way to recall
allthe high yield topics and also what to focus on. The subject
materialwas very well integrated and contrary to some hearsay in the
aboveposts the Q bank which I actually did was very effective too in
helpingme prepare. By the way all the group that attended this course
with mepassed. For the time comittment and value  i e 10 day or 15
daysthis is a very well organized review and I would not hesitate
torecommend it if you need a fast but comprehensive review and do
nothave 3-6 months to attend a review. Also I should add the
presentationsby faculty were very professional .Incidentally too I
matched at a topnotch university hospital. Finally again in sharp
contradiction to theabove post-this is a very effective course for
USMLE not only COMLEXand  if youre looking for a very thorough
review in 5-10or15 daysthen there is probably no better course
currently out there.

I am a foreign medical graduate, the NW medical review was a
greatexperience for me, it helped me a lot in organizing all the
studymaterial.  As the USMLE is a very dense content exam you need
toknow what is more important to review and that was the clue to
mysuccess.  I passed the step 1 very well, for me it was the
secondtime around, the first time I didn't take the NW course and only
didthe Kaplan Qbank, wich evidently wasn't enough.  I think that
forthe USMLE you have to combine, practice questions, good review
booksand great discipline to seat and study for at least 6
months. There is no perfect recipe and each one of us has a
specific way tolearn but really, this course is a very good option,
specially forinternational students who have to afford housing, food,
airplanetickets and also the cost of the exam.

Northwestern Medical Review course helped me both for COMLEX and USMLE. They have been around for 21 years, more than most of the commercial review programs.

I don't like to give my business to companies that are younger than me!
Anybody knows of any other Medical Board Prep company older than
Northwestern or  Kaplan?

I took a 3-day USMLE Cruise course from Northwestern Medical Review and
I liked it--it is probably the best comprehensive review package that a
tight budget can buy these days!
