I have a question to pose out there for a friend of mine
She was a dr in russia who moved to the us about two or three years ago and wants to be a doc here but went to med school like 20 years ago. Can she get relicensed in the us or does she need to go to med school all over again. If she can get relicensed what is the procedure she needs to go through ?

To my understanding she does not need to repeat med school. However, she might want to brush up on the basics as she will have to take the same test all FMG's take, namely: USMLE - Steps 1,2 and 3 (3 tests), the CSA test and TOEFL. I know a woman who is in a similar situation, she finished med school in China 10+ yrs ago and is now trying to get her American medical license. She works as a research scientist now and is studying for the USMLE's. For most people who came here as adults technical language seems to be the biggest barrier, the best thing to do is to reimerse oneself in the clinical environment by working or volunteering in a hospital and becoming familiar with American procedures and language.
