Kursk State M.U. Russia?

Hi there, just wondering if there were any people out there who have applied or eaven got a place at Kursk state M.U., or possibly any students out there?

The plus points for kursk are
1 they are the 1st school in Russia to provide an English medium programme so their programme have the best english speaking faculty that offers a 6 year english prog

the minus points are my assumptions (I must admit that i have never been there)n I dont have anything to support my views
1 the admission procedure is very much regulated by agents...which I think bears the seeds of Corruption

2 I ll personally rate the Russian programmes(6 year english medium) in this way

1 Moscow state Univ faculty Of Med
2 People's Friendship Univ (PFU)Moscow
3 St Petersburg State Medical Univ (Pavlov)
4 St Petersburg State med academy (mechnikov) -that's my academy
5 Kursk

i would advise you to go there only if you are unable to get a chance in all of the above schools Plianly due to the fact that schools 1 to 4 has a better reputation than Kursk

I would say it is very personal opinion and ranking, especially if take into account that at Moscow State University they have no English medium MD program for last 4 years...

St.Petersburg State Pediatric Medical Academy
Saratov State Medical University
Smolesnsk State Medical Academy
We are concerned about their ranking in Russia n World wide. Also how recognized these courses are in other countries
What wud be her fate after completion

i've post to your original post enquiring about the textbook list. i've also applied and am currently waiting for offer letter. basically, it won't b easy to live at there according to my information. but if one hopes to bcome a doctor, they won't care about comfort things. i decide to go there bcoz i want to b a doctor.

U r right. Want2badoc, this is for you too. Edward89 is right. Hardship has its another name Medicine. No matter whereever u go in this earth, u have to work hard for becomming a doctor. My plan is different. I have decided from now onwards that after completing my MD I shall start teachin. Thats what I love! Besides if I get a chance then I will also practice. I think I may come back to my home Bangladesh and practice here or I may go somewhere else. Who knows! But if I feel that taking a post graduate degree is also very important for practicing then for this I have plans to go Australia. Want2badoc, what is your plan? :confused:

sorry for the late reply. As for textbooks for first year med school, they use primarily notes given during lectures and then the regular books: guyton physiology, moore anatomy, robbins pathology, etcc...
As for ranking, if u ask me all med schools in russia are the same, the only good thing is that kursk offer an english program for all the 6 year program, but u will need to know russian cuz u will need to speak to patients later in 3rd year...
You have to be motivated and study, its a good place to be, to study and have fun.

For the transfer, u can transfer that is no problem, but if ur planning to come to US, i think they mention last 4 years need to be in 1 med school or something, so u might want to check that.

I dont think u guys know russian, so YES expect it to be very difficult in the first 6 months, i had the worst time of my life. but after that, the experience become nice, u r comfortable, believe it or not u will learn russian, i spent 4 years there only, and my russian is good, well i know how to speak good, not write or read.
