Hey all,

I am in third year undergraduate studies in a University. I was involved in a case of plagarism and now i am going to be suspended from the university for about 8-12 months. I have done only a few pre-reqs and the majority of my pre-reqs are still left to be done.

My question is should i even bother doing them and just complete my degree; as i dont know if i will get admission in a medical school?

What schools take students who have not completed their degrees; and which offer pre-req courses?

Has anyone got admission into a carribean med school after having strudent disipline imposed on the transcript? What do u guys think i should do, jus complete my pre-reqs here and and apply whenever i graduate or what?

Thanks.

Look into EEuropean schools.
they need only high school

People have gotten into US schools with such things on their transcript. It all depends on the individual and individual case as well. But a case of cheating, and with plagarism I suspect it was probably pretty blatant, will send up large red flags everywhere. But give 'em all a shot, you never know until you try.

People who want jump, high school to medical school, be aware you are missing out on college.

so what should i do in this situation, the degree i am doing rite now has no pre-med courses should i do them?

yes i will have that on my transcript, i will have some reasons explaining why it happened and what the actual story was.

I will also have some decent grades, mcat scores and some decent volunteer and work experience.

All i am asking is should i go for the pre-reqs or should i jus leave it as it is!!!

thanks

if you want to go into medicine it is mandatory that you do the prereqs, not an option. not sure what you are asking here.

i am just asking if i should even bother applying to medical schools. if addmission commitees will have red flags on my application just on seeing that i was disiplined for plagarism, then there is no point taking all the pre-reqs. I will just finish with the degree i am doing and look for a job in this field!!

I havent been through the addmissions process, i am just asking if the carribean schools would overlook this disipline, with decent scores and volunteer work.

Thanks.

You should try. It may be a problem for you, but the worst thing any school can say is "no". Nobody here can answer the question you are asking. To continue to read people's replies will only result in frustration. If you want to go to medical school, take the pre-reqs and apply to a school that seems right for you. G

thanks for the replies guys. I think i will give it a try than regret all my life that i could have done medicine.

Now having said that, i will probally get into a lesser known carribean med school, as ive heard as read that they r really there for the business. How hard would it be to transfer to to big 3 after having spent a year max at this lesser known school? is it normally done?

Thanks.

Don't "settle" until you have been rejected from your first choices. You already have yourself dead and buried. The "big 3" (hate that term, BTW), will not take credits from most of the "lesser known" caribbean schools. Apply to the bigger, better known schools first. Go to many of the others as a last resort....G

I have the same mindset. I don't want to wonder "what if I went to med school?" all my life.

Don't give up on your dreams. People make mistakes; you just have to work twice as hard and redeem yourself. Good luck.
