And I assume other universities elsewhere should be called "Smith" or "Jones" becuase of the high prevelance of students with those last names?

Ya if you are Indian you should fit right in!!! I'm not Indian but I'm used to being in the minority in Miami lol so I'll have no problem being in the minority at Ross... just hope that everyone is as openminded of their experience at Ross as I will be.
Are some of the Indian girls as hot as they were in undergrad??? j/k I'm not looking for anything or anyone while I am there anyway ;)

are the living conditions in dominica simlar to the living conditions in india..?
how so? how not so?
they are both third world countries...so I thought i'd ask..and I also thought being that there are many indians at ross, there would be some kind of response...

most of the indians at Ross, like everyone else, are suburbian americans, so the 3rd world conditions suck for everyone

I'm asking because a lot of indians from the us (suburbian amricans as you call them) visit india in the summer or winter....so they may have something to compare ross to......

most of the indian students ive talked to believe dominica is much worse in terms of living conditions and much much much worse in terms of the locals
I'd tend to agree having visited a few south asian countries

I do not think the conditions are that bad here...they are making it out to be a Bankok slum and it is far from that. You may not have all the comforts of home but you will be far from hurting...

really depends what you consider 'living conditions'
apartments and the campus are fine, but outside that, its pretty piss poor
luckily you wont have to set foot outside the campus area for anything
as for the people, you will likely never find a group of people less enthusiastic about taking your money to perform a service or make a sale. there is a sense of complacency and entitlement here that rivals no other place. they know they will get their money from you one way or another, so there is no motivation to really do anything

This place is just fine, the only thing that is worse is that there is poor pressure in the shower and the water turns brown after a rainfall, other than that u will see more bugs than in the US. But the conditions here a fine....its a shock in the beginning but you will get over it.............
come down for a weekend........its like 600 altogether from NY and you will see.

do you mean to say that the grocery stores are all on-campus as well? i will be an incoming student in may 2006, so i am only asking because i am not sure. also, this might sound dumb, but are the parties (such as the one i read that amsa throws) off-campus and if so, do they tend to be safe?

grocery off campus....parties off campus....its safe..nothing bad has happened at parties security is great. Two incidents last semester a break in and a student got robbed (off campus)......the numbers a way less than in the US....

when i used the term "on campus" i meant within the campus village we have set up here.
There are 2 grocery stores within a 1 minute walk from the Ross gates. One of which is right across the street. There is another one within a 5- minute walk and thats still within the areas where students live , so i consider it "on campus"
in terms of off-campus (>10 minutes away from Ross) there is nothing to do and no need to go
the parties are either on campus (residences) or off campus (bars) but they are as safe as you make them. if you do stupid things at a party you could probably be in for a rough night no matter where you are
