Hey Guys,

How do you like patient doctor 3? I think its a great idea that SMU students learn to take physical exams so early on (3rd semester).

Dr. T (M.D.) who teaches the class if i heard correctly, sayed that Harvard professors last semester came to watch SMU students do physical exams and found that the SMU studenst "outperformed the Harvard students on physical exam diagnosis."

Im not comparing SMU to Harvard but it feels good know we are bing taken care of, and being thoroughly prepared for the real world of clinical medicine. It also feels good to get acknowledgement from a distinguished medical school such as Harvard.

I like the class a lot. Eventhough we just started I think its great we have an MD teaching us.

He brings real life experience to the class, not just a teacher reading out of Bates. He tells us EXACTLY how a patient presents, what test to do and also asks clinical cases to prep us for the diagnosis prior to the completion of the physical. In short he has us thinking as though we are doctors !

Because our class size is about 150 we have been broken up into smaller groups of about 35 or so which makes everything much more hands on.

Again we should probably thank our dean Dr. G**** for fiddling with the curriculum to better enhance our learning.
