View Full Version : Which TEXT BOOKS did you purchase?
Hi,
I know this topic has been brought up many times and I was directed to
http://pricehawk.net/list.php?id=8&lid=SGU%20-%20Term%201%20-%20Books
But the list university sent me is different from most of the listing on this website.
Beside term 1, Can anyone share their experience on the text books they purchased for the 2nd,3rd semester?
Thanks,
Rico

2nd Term:
all you need is Immuno (the small one) that everyone carries around written by the prof
Neuro and Physio are a waste of you money and remember that you have to carry that thing off the island eventually. notes are sufficient to do well in the class. besides, you can always use the Library copy.
3rd Term:
You will use all the books. The only one that you may get away without is the blue book for Behavioral. Just get the BRS Behavioral for that. Get everything else.
4th term:
Just get the Basic Pathology Book.
Hope that helps!

What about the copied articles for imuno, do we need those??? Also we don't need the genetics book??
Does the library have a copy of every book that we need for our classes??? how long can we take them out for?

the copied articles are not required, per se. They are used for bonus questions on the midterm.

i think that once you take the course, you would realize that there is really no reason to even take the book home if you needed it to...the weight of the book will tire you out more and energy wasted than the few minutes you will spend looking up what you need to learn.
Honestly, I hated that Kandell book and I am really glad that I did not get it. If you need something more simply explained to you for Neuro:
1) Clinical Neuroanatomy Made Ridiculously Simple ($20 USD)
2) Go to DES for Neuro
Honestly, that's all that you need!
Genetics book is a WASTE of Money!!! Alternating profs every semester. One that we had sucks, one that was before and after is great. Notes are more than sufficient.
Articles for Immuno: good sleepers. Someone has answers the objectives floating around. Read those and you'll get all the points for the bonus and understand the material better.
Physio - Lecture notes are detailed and all that you need. Get Physio BRS!!!
Hope that helps!
