Do you suggest bringing down a BC and reg, or just rent it on the island. I've heard some people have gotten good deals on equipment from the carribean but I am not sure Grenada will be the same. Also, do the charge you taxes on the gear when coming through customs?

Thanks

I would recommend bringing down your own BC and reg. Not only will you save money in rental fees, but I just have an aversion to putting my mouth on a reg that's not likely been sterilized. (And I haven't even taken micro yet!)
I haven't seen any BC's/reg's for sale in the dive shops here - at most they have fins/masks/wetsuits, and the prices are not cheaper. The three times I have been through customs they have never charged me for my scuba gear, even when they knew I had it - they are mostly interested in computers/electronics. Unless you are a jerk to them, of course :-)

Actually, I was the admin of that site, and it was taken down. The leader of the club it was set up for had a different vision of leadership style, and the board was not utilized to it's potential. I just deleted it, as it was taking up lots of space on my web hosting account.

Yeah, you will need your card to dive here. To order a replacement card, see:

1) I haven't dove since I was in Guam and that was 4 years ago so are there refresher courses?

2) Anyone know a good place to get a good deal on a reg and BCD. I used to have a zeagle but I sold it so I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion. Thanks

1) Yup - they have a refresher course that includes pool time and an open water dive with an instructor.

2) Check with your local dive shop. LeisurePro (http://www.leisurepro.com/) is usually one of the cheaper online vendors, but I really wouldn't buy a BC without being able to try it on.

Ditto on the LeisurePro, and ditto on the trying on. Just try to find the same models in a local store, figure out your size, and then buy it on LeisurePro if you can.
