Has your housing situation on the island improved? I was reading on this forum that it was difficult finding housing. Is this a temporary problem?

there is plenty of housing, just have to do the legwork. rent has increased post ivan, but even before to find housing close to school cost quite a bit.

How far in advance should one start actively seeking housing for an apartment? Since I deferred to the fall semester, I am starting to try to get all of the paperwork issues resolved.

the sooner u get the paperwork in, the better. as far as housing, i would talk to the school, i believe that the new residence hall will be opening in the fall. as far as an apartment goes, i would look about 6 weeks prior.

Is 6 weeks sufficient for an apartment, especially with the lack of housing that was available last term? Thanks for the advice.

September is in the low touristic season, so apartments should be available.
6 weeks is enough, especially because landlords will ask you to committ to the rent as soon as you talk to them.
