I wonder if the female medical students could answer this one. I am just very picky on the type of lotions, soaps make up, and hygene products that I use. I understand that there aren't really any grocery stores on the island so would it be a good idea to bring maybe a year's supply down with me? Or maybe I could have my family mail me some things as I run out.

One more thing, is there a way to search for specific information in this forum without having to browse through a zillion posts? Like if there was a search field where I could have typed in "grocery stores" and searched the forum that would be cool. :)

if you have a specific brand in mind for anything..my suggestion is to bring enough to last the term.

Maybe they should make it flashing or something :-)

Yes there are feminine products here on the island, but the price that you would pay for them would be too ridiculous. My advice is to walk with them. OK. Because trust me, when you have to study all this work, the last thing you want to bother with is trying to figure out where the hell you are going to find something that you would be comfortable with.

Yeah, you're not going to find too much variety of girly stuff on the island. Plus the stuff they do have, like body wash, face wash, and good lotions, are super expensive. This term, I brought down new bottles of everything I use, which lasted about half the term, then I had my mom send down a care package with more supplies that will probably last me into the next term. But make sure you allow yourself time before you run out, if you don't FedEx a package, it could take some time to get here.

In regards to makeup, personally I only wear a little bit when I go out, otherwise, I think it's pointless because you're on a tropical island and sweating a large majority of the time. PLUS no one cares what you look like, especially when you're in scrubs, hunched over dead bodies learning anatomy. I wouldn't worry about it. :D

After consultation with Babu's lady friends, there are indeed feminine products on the island.

Avoid shipping from Canada, it'll be too much moolah.

Good luck,

well when I came down here ....I brought EVERYTHING I needed I mean everything....not just doubles but many!....I brought lots of shampoo, conditioners, shaving creams, body washes, creams, lotions, makeup, hair sprays, gels ect......just bring everything and bring enough to last you for the term...and if you bring more than enough than leave it here so you have enough for next term too....I havent had a problem....I didnt have to buy anything this term because I came prepared..because I do not want to buy something here that is so much cheaper back home...one of my friends had to buy an eye liner for $20EC and thats about $8US and it wasnt even a good brand...so just buy enough of everything....you should know how much of everything you use...
