know your MLF lesions inside and out and for that matter any lesions in the brain stem. seems like they can ask that question in about 10 different ways.

i thought the final was easier than the midterm. i stuck to the packets and really didnt venture outside those packets to study for the final. look at the kandel book again for the eye stuff (rods, cones, etc..) other than that anything in the packet is fair game.

the clinical cases are EASY EASY points. dont let those slip away from you. make sure you understand and memorize each case and look for the key clinical features. those SAME patients or something close to them are going to show up ie. if they are talking about a "worst headache in his life" correlate it with a case you have seen and voila you have your answer.

good luck

also dont forget the EAR stuf with regards to balance etc....
Rinne and Weber test comes back to haunt you again. master that, its a free point.
know you quick and slow phases of nystagmus

there is a question there on drugs addiction. i think there are 7 points or so to memorize about drug addiction, and there is 1 or 2 questions on it.

awesome, thanks for the info. Yeah, i definitely need to solidify my vision lesions, they ask about that and the reflexes so much, i can't tell if it is because it is more clinically relevant, or they just love them for some reason...

anyway, i appreciate the info. time for the last big push!

hi guys

I was wondering if anyone could explain the extra points that are supposed to be added to our total score (I believe 30 was mentioned in a previous post). Is this related to the t-score grading?

I think we have had about 13 or so quizes, so where would the other points come from? Lab attendance?

Just asking to help ease my tension a bit.

thanks
tral

The amount of bonus pionts is 15.

also remember: the course is very much affected by the t-scores that are being run - so the number of points you actually need to make a grade may change depending on the performance of the class as a whole.

for an explanation see ANGEL.

Cheers, and good luck,

Yeah, but are the "bonus" points added to the raw score before or after the T-score is calculated? If before, then they really aren't bonus at all, since I am assuming a majority of the class did them... and the T-score will cancel out their effect.

Couldn't find the answer to that in Angel...

From my understanding, the way it works is you will get the better of these two grade:

1) (Exam points earned + Bonus Points) / Total possible exam points

2) T-score based on Exam points / Total possible points, no bonus marks consideration.

There is no way they will add the bonus points post T-score. Bonus points are worth 10% of the course. This means that everyone will move up one grade point and no one will fail (what a wonderful concept eh? No one fails!!!)

The purpose of the T-score is to adjust for the difficulty level of the exam. It will normalize (ie. apply a bell curve) the distribution of grades in the class. This does two things.

A) Ensure that there aren't alot of people failing the course (ie. biochem).

B) Give you a grade relative to the performance of the rest to the class (instead of lowering the raw score needed for a certain grade)

Hope this clarifies things,

Marco

Oh well, no point worrying about it now. Thanks Restlesseye and algen for your contribution. It's really appreciated.

Time to make some delta waves.

Good luck everyone!
